Alice was bored and sleepy when she followed the white rabbit through a portal and traveled to strange places. We all have our rabbit holes, though not in Wonderland. Have you ever sat down to “check Facebook” or watch TV and suddenly hours have passed? Mindless activities can waste our time and influence our mind. It all started because she was bored and sleepy. Be alert!
How I believe affects how I think and how I think affects how I believe. I must be intentional about the places my mind wanders.
1 Corinthians 2:16, “But we have the mind of Christ.” HCSB
It is always a challenge to keep our eyes focused on eternity instead of our circumstances. It requires continual effort. Negative habits and strongholds must be recognized and seriously dealt with. This won’t happen accidentally, our thoughts must be taken captive.
2 Corinthians 10:5, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” ESV
The problem with captives is they are a flight risk.
CHALLENGE
- What thoughts (or activities) do you need to take captive?
- Choose a verse (or verses) to help you make those thoughts obedient.
