This morning I remember how the playground was so much fun at school. One of my favorites was the monkey bars. Swinging from one bar to another to get across with your feet dangling in the air was so much fun. But you had to get the rhythm right. You had to let go of one bar to get swing to the next. Anyone who held onto two bars at once usually ended up dropping to the ground in defeat.
Oh beloved, life is a lot about letting go of one thing to move on to the next. For sure it is about letting go of fear to grab onto faith. And without faith you won’t make it across. Fear is a liar we know. But it also impedes all progress. Nobody ever wanted to keep swaying in the middle of the monkey bars. Nobody ever wants to sway between fear and faith. Faith is a body builder – it builds up your muscles and causes you to move into new territory. And new territory is often disguised as something to be feared.
God wants you to know that faith is real. And He has given each of us the right measure of faith. You have it if you are born again. Fear won’t just keep you off the playground of life. It will keep you in the house, locked up against whatever you think is dangerous. The world has removed many of the playground “dangers” of yesteryear. But in truth, those brushes with danger as a kid helped form your life of fearless living. So too brushes with danger spiritually gives you strong spiritual muscles. You were born again to live fearlessly and swing from one place letting go to another! It’s amazing what you can do!
God loves you and He’s for you. Go ahead and let go of fear once and for all. It does nothing for you at all. Grab hold of faith and enjoy life today. And live in the Faith of Jesus by the power of Holy Spirit as you move on out with joy!
