More Than You Can Bear

How many times have you heard God won’t give you more than you can handle.  Well, I am here to tell you that it is not true.  God does allow things we can’t handle and He does it for a good purpose.  If we never had anything we couldn’t handle we would not need Him!!

He does promise  “There has no temptation taken you but that which is common to man but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able but will make a way of escape so that you can bear it.” 1 Cor 10: 13

God desires us to be Dependent on Him and therefore allows things that are not great to happen in our lives so that we may draw close to Him.

There are many different reasons for trials and tribulations.
1.  Consequences of our actions.
Sin brings pain and sorrow.

2.  For God’s glory
John  9: 2His disciples asked him, ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?’” “’Neither this man nor his parents sinned, said Jesus, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.’”
Also remember Job.  God knew ahead of time that Job would hold fast to his faith and not curse Him and it would give Him glory.

3.  To refine us and remove any impurity out of us so that our faith will be made pure.
1 Peter 1: 6-7  So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

We must know that everything is in God’s control. He must allow whatever happens to happen in our lives.  Sometimes He does not stop something from happening because it would take away someone else’s free choice.
People choose to sin, the world is a sinful place.  Life happens.  Things go wrong.  However, God is always good and always FOR you!!!  He always loves you and never ever leaves you no matter what takes place in your life.

We also must know and believe that no matter what happens He can cause it to work for our good and His glory. Rom 8:28 “For we know that all things work together for good to them who love God and who are called according to His purposes.”

Not every ingredient in a cake is good by itself, baking powder for instance.  Yuck.  But once you mix the baking powder with the eggs, milk, sugar and put it in the RIGHT TEMPERATURE for the RIGHT AMOUNT OF TIME.  It becomes something wonderful.

Even if we mix all our lives up together if we never go through the heat process it doesn’t turn out as good as it is could.  God puts us in the heat but doesn’t leave us there, He keeps His eye on us and at the right time He removes us for it has strengthened our faith and made us more confident in our relationship with Him.

How will we ever know He is our Healer if we are never sick?  How will we know He is our Provider if we are never in need?  How will we know He is our peace if we are never in conflict?  We learn WHO He IS based on what He takes us through.
