While Moses was living in Midian, he tended Jethro’s sheep and married his daughter Zipporah. Then one day while tending the sheep, he had a very unusual experience. He saw a burning bush, but the bush wasn’t extinguished.
While standing there, the Lord spoke to Moses and told him that he was standing on holy ground. Then God told Moses, that He had heard the cries of His people and was calling him to lead them out of Egypt to the land of Canaan. Moses responded, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and tell him to let the people go?”
After listening to Moses’ excuses, God told Moses He would make the Egyptians favorably depart from His people; when they leave, they won’t leave empty handed. Every woman is to go to her neighbor and others, and take their silver, gold, and clothing, In that way they will plunder the Egyptians.
