Scripture: Read Exodus chapters 3-4
… I have seen the misery of my people in Egypt and am sending you to rescue them. But Moses gave several excuses including he was slow of speech. Some historians think Moses had a stuttering disorder. After some miracles and Moses continued to hesitate, God promised Aaron could be his mouthpiece.
“Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” Exodus 4:10-13
Though Moses was a great leader, he had his weaknesses, and before his death: because he disobeyed God in the presence of the Israelites, He was not allowed to enter the land of milk and honey. God took him to Mount Nebo and allowed him to view the land, but he died there and has an unmarked grave.
Prayer: Father in heaven, though my leadership pales if compared with Moses, my Type A personality endows me abilities as an earthly leader, but as Moses I have some weaknesses, also. There has been only one perfect leader: Christ! Forgive me when I fail to be the leader I should be. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
