No Brakes No Steering

Danny decided our car needed washing, so we pulled in to one of the newest ones while we were in a nearby town. This one was different than any I’ve ever seen. You pull up, choose your wash, pay the money and then you put your car in neutral, take your hands off the steering wheel and remove your foot from the brake. It then compels you forward and take you through the entire wash by itself.

It sure felt weird neither to steer nor to put on the brakes. But when we were through we drove out the back door on to the rest of our day with a clean car!

God spoke to my heart: with this faith life there will be times I am going to ask you to take your hands off the wheel and quit stepping on the brake. I AM the One who will get you where you need to be. You may feel like things are in neutral but I AM the One who will get you where you need to be.

Oh beloved, you’re not coasting nor are you in danger of losing control. In fact, when you give God control of the situations in your life things happen in the heavenlies. The whole realm of God’s help comes to assist you to do His will. We’re not meant to be saved for heaven and then be in control of our whole lives. We become new citizens and no longer drivers – we aren’t driven by popularity, politics, position, or any other man-made device for success. The impetus becomes God’s call.

You may be considering what God is doing in the midst of your hardest situations but you can be sure that His promises prove true always – all things work together for good because you are called according to His purpose. As you release your life to Him take note – what looks like dangerous, out of control living, will become focused and meaningful. You may feel like putting on the brakes today but allow God to take you all the way through. Something wonderful is awaiting your obedience and the outcome will be glorious.

God loves you and He’s for you. Two strong reasons to let Him lead, guide and direct your life. Every moment you relinquish your own control – or the control others want to have over you – to God is a shining moment of glory in the Kingdom. Rejoice, beloved, that you are living completely free and going forth in the Light of His Wonderful plan!
