Nothing Random

This morning I am thinking about my mother-in-law. I was the pianist at her wedding before I knew she would be my mother-in-law one day. She and her husband had moved to Arkansas along with my hubby for her husband to retire. He had passed away from a heart attack not long after they moved here. It was her marriage to the man my kids would know as Grandpa that I played the piano for. Circumstances can be strange, but you never know when you are helping out someone who may have a pivotal role in your life someday.

Oh beloved, some of our circumstances we encounter aren’t as lovely as a wedding. But you and I can be sure whatever we are encountering, God has a plan through it. Even the good things have more than just surface meaning. You aren’t just randomly born, randomly moved around the earth, randomly encountering new acquaintances and randomly living out life until the end. Nothing about God is random. He is either moving on your behalf to bring you to Himself or He is moving on your behalf to get you to the place He wants you to live for Him. It doesn’t help to wait for heaven while you randomly go through life either. God taught His disciples to say “Your Kingdom come…” You, if you are born again and know that you are a child of God, are an emissary of His mercy and grace. You are a messenger of Hope, even when things look hopeless. You are an envoy of grace and forgiveness, even when you are angry and want to be unforgiving. The Spirit of the Living God dwells in you and you are no longer your own.

God loves you and He’s for you. He knows everything you will encounter and all the things the enemy wants to distract you from. Run to the Lord this morning and ask Him for fresh fire and fresh insight for living. And walk in the power of the Resurrection, looking for connection and purpose throughout your life.

Psalm 139:16 Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were written All the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

I Corinthians 2:9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
