Those are the three words I heard one morning recently. One day closer. It’s a good word from the Lord for us. It’s a positive rather than a negative statement. I know this event we are going through can be a pessimist’s daydream. But we aren’t pessimists because God isn’t.
Oh beloved, you are one day closer. To that answer to prayer. To being released from social distancing. To seeing your loved one again. To gaining access to heaven. One day closer to whatever it is that is the longing of your heart. Most of all you are one day closer to the Lord – because you have put your trust in Him and your heart has settled on His promises rather than your hopelessness. He alone is your answer to every longing.
As God speaks to your heart this morning, He is reminding you that nothing stands in the way of His plan for your life. Nothing is ruining your future. Nothing is gaining a win over your victory. The enemy wants you to believe that all is lost, you are finished, there’s going to be no answer to the fervent prayers in the middle of the night. But when you look back at your life – what do you see? You see the beauty of God all intertwined with the story. You see answered prayer.
God wants you to know that He sees you right where you are. And although you may not can see Him, you are surrounded by Him – His Word, His nature, His care, His protection and more. He is your reason for living even when you feel that you just want to die. And because He is here He wants to trade your hopelessness for His hope. He wants to trade your discomfort for His comfort. He wants to trade your sorrows for His joy. Everything you deal with God has made a way to give you what you need. That way maker is Jesus. He tore the veil that kept you outside the eternal. It looks bad, things seem so corrupt, the jobs look gone and everything is so very bad in the real world. But you, beloved, are not of this world – so your hope is not in this world. One day closer to knowing God more intimately and living in victory in spite of it all.
God loves you and He’s for you. Every day is a gift. Every good gift is from the Father. Every answer is found in Jesus. And every bad day gives way to victory by indwelling of Holy Spirit. Get with the Lord this morning and let Him give you His hope and His comfort and His peace as well as His optimistic look at your life. Then live, precious believer, in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
