Our Response

“For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him.” II Chronicles 16:9

Remember the kings of Israel and Judah, they were given a divine evaluation.  Over and over again in the Old Testament books of Kings and Chronicles, we read about kings who did evil in the sight of the Lord. Only a few were given this description: “he did what was good and right in the sight of the Lord his God.”

The heart matters!

We continue to learn from the story of David.  Looking back at Paul’s sermon in Acts 13, we discover what pleases and honors God. God testifies concerning David.

“I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my will.” (Acts 13: 22)

The psalms of David remind us of our daily struggle with sin and self, our need for cleansing repentance, and God’s faithful love.  He speaks from his life experiences as one who has found forgiveness!

“ Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.” Palm 51:10 (KJV)

“ Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”  Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)

Can we be women seeking “after God’s heart?”  Yes, obedience matters!

“I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.”Psalm 119:11 (CSB)

For you alone, O God, know every heart!
