Overcoming Difficulties

James 1:2-9 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.”

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Psalm 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lordthe Maker of heaven and earth.”

Difficulties are a part of life. A person can either approach them with fear or face them with faith and courage. There were times when I felt powerless and paralyzed when difficulties come. I falsely believed that I cannot overcome them and that I am not strong enough to defeat hardships. Later on, I have learned how to deal with them. So, how can you overcome difficulties?

First, trust in God. Have faith in what God can do to overcome your struggles. When God gave Noah the difficult task to build an ark, he did not complain of how big a task it would be. He was not stressed at all. He trusted God the enable him to finish the work. He knew that God gave him the strength and skill to do it when he was assigned to build the ark. Like Noah, God allows difficulties in your life so that you can reach your more significant potential.

Second, know that difficulties hone your character. Accept that hardships are there to mold your character, strengthen, and make you grow. Problems come to polish your attitude and let your light shine.

Third, soak in the word of God. Search the Bible for verses that apply to your situation. You search online for specific verses that will be fit to give you a spiritual and morale boost.

Fourth, express your thoughts and feelings to God. Ask for help and protection from him. He will listen to you and give you the help that you need.

Fifth, ask for help from the learned or people who are close to you. Do not be ashamed. Just ask and help or good advice will come to you.

Sixth, do whatever you can do to rise above your situation. Remember, God has blessed you with wisdom and the strength to do good and tackle life issues.

Seventh, rest in the thought that God already has the solution to your concerns. He will make things happen for you and give you peace. He will do what is right and best for your situation.
