Panic or Promise?

One of our sons in law got his first turkey yesterday. It’s not turkey season. But that old bird flew out of nowhere and smack into his windshield. It landed with such force that he almost broke through the windshield. Unexpected. Out of nowhere. Boom!

Life is like that. We’re traveling along enjoying life. And suddenly, out of nowhere, something hits us with such a force. We want to dodge, we try to avoid, but life happens and shatters right in front of us. No one is immune from the possibility of it. So what do we do when disaster hits? How do we respond when hit right in the middle of our great, ordinary days?

We call on Jesus, and we remember His Word about our lives and we hang on for dear life and we know that God works ALL THINGS together for our good.

Oh beloved, are you facing a big repair? Has something hit that was unexpected? You know you have walked with the Lord and believed Him and prayed? What are you going to do? You’re going to call on Jesus again and again and again. However long it takes, even if you don’t see Him He is with you. You don’t have to wait for His presence – for His presence is within you through Holy Spirit. And you remember His Word – your times are in His hands, the Lord is near to the broken hearted, you know that this is a momentary light affliction, you cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you. There’s more. You remember that He said in Joshua “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go” – in the laundry room, in the highway, in the board room, in the office, in the emergency room, in every situation – God will be with you. When you’re in pain, God is your sustainer. When you are grieving He is your Hope. When you are in a tight spot, He is your Comforter. Even if you have caused your own problem and feel like you are reaping what you sowed, He is your Go To for Relief, Repentance and Restoration! You aren’t the sum of your worst days or your longest droughts – you are His and He will help you through whatever you are facing. You can trust Him because He is God. You are a conqueror and even when you are discouraged and feel defeated you have sure victory – because of the undefeatable God who is within you!

God loves you and He’s for you! That alone will keep you going. When prayers go longer than you hoped, when disaster doesn’t get swept up in an hour, when problems to solve take over your heart – you will make it! Your citizenship is firm and your Savior is ever interceding. So bless the Lord, quit listening to the enemy’s lies and live with your eye on your true home as you walk in victory in everything you do!

Joshua 1: 9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Deuteronomy 31: 8 The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

Psalm 27: 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation–so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Romans 8: 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
