Pests or Perfection?

We had three pests that were invading our home. They had done their best to do some damage and build their homes inside our home. But now that the new siding is up they no longer have access to their former entries. The wasps fly up to their usual spots but fly away. They won’t be dive bombing us at the front door any longer. The squirrels are blocked from their ability to chew into the wood siding that is now covered. And the woodpeckers as well no longer enjoy their roosts. You might think I’m anti wildlife, but no, I’m just anti damage. And if something is going to damage my home, I’m glad they are barred from doing their harm anymore.

Don’t we wish we could just put siding up over our lives?

Whenever damage occurs in life it’s not from the Lord. As I woke up this morning I found myself singing these words, “He is perfect in all of His ways”. If God is perfect, and He is, and bad things happen, and they do, then where do we go to make sense of the hardships and find repair for the damaging effects of the devil?

Oh beloved, you may be waking up to bad news this morning. There’s a hole in your theology where the enemy shot through. You did your best to keep things covered, but somehow the damage occurred. God is perfect in all of His ways so there’s where you start. Placing the blame squarely on the enemy and never allowing yourself to blame God for the things that happen. How will you make sense of it all? This is not the time to wrangle with the goodness of God. This is time to roll all your cares on Him. This world is fallen and it is not your real home. Heaven is flawless and nothing can enter into it except the love of God. But in the meantime, life on earth is not always so neatly covered. But even when bad things happen, especially to good people, God has not abandoned His watch nor has He left you to defend yourself or fix your problems on your own.

The Lord says this morning, bring the damage to Him. He will keep you in perfect peace as you keep your eyes on Him, not the problems, not the damage, not the pests of life but just on Him. You may lose someone or some things in life, but you will never lose your place at God’s table nor your position in His heart. He is here to comfort you, relieve your sorrows and set your mind at ease. Life is not fair and bad things do happen, but you are still His child and you will have His completely protected and perfect home one day. Don’t think that life is the sum of bad things that are occurring every day. Always remember you are more than a conqueror and ultimate victory is yours no matter what!

God loves you and He’s for you. In good times and in bad. With good news and sorrowful reports. You’re not just going to survive you are going to thrive in the Spirit. Run to Him this morning and pour out all your news to Him, give Him full access to your heartaches and rest in His promise of comfort, as you live in the Light of His promises that are always true.

2 Corinthians 1: 21-22 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and He has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised us.

Deuteronomy 32: 4 The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.

Ephesians 1: 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him.

Hebrews 6: 18 So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.
