Preparing for Battle

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

As we step out our doors, we must make sure we are fully equipped with God’s Word. We must put on the whole armor of God in order to fight the evils of this world.

You know, I can remember, as a child, my parents would always protect me. Not only by watching out for me and teaching me what I need to know to be safe, but also by putting a helmet on my head before going out to ride my bike, or a life jacket when we were at the lake. You get the gist.

It’s the same with God, but His protective gear is spiritual…. Just as with the helmet and life jacket, it only works if you wear them. If you don’t there’s a chance you will get hurt. If it’s a battle you’re in, then there’s a very good chance you will get hurt.

I know sometimes the armor of God is more difficult to understand because we can’t see it in the same way. We see it in the spirit. Our eyes can see God’s Word, the bible, but if we don’t open it, read it, and apply it to our lives, it can’t protect us.

Father God, please protect us, especially in these times we are living in now. Please help us to remember to always put on the whole armor so that when we go into battle, we will be prepared. Thank you for your love and grace and your protection. In Jesus name. Amen.
