Putting My Will into Neutral

To put our wills into neutral, we need to take Paul’s advice in

Romans 12:1-2. ” I beseech you, therefore, Brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

So with this scripture in mind and with a renewed mind dedicated to God and to doing His will. we come to him with a mind ready to go in whatever direction He chooses. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But it is not easy!

Anytime a child of God gets that close to God, our adversary, the devil, begins concerted efforts to discourage us. He may agree with us that it sounds easy, but tells us that we are not being realistic: because the task is difficult and we are not capable of doing it. He knows many times we will become discouraged and let him defeat us; however, we should listen to God and resist the devil. If we resist the devil, he will flee from us, and if we come near to God, He will come near to us . James 4:7 “Therefore, submit to God. But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.

And any time a believer wills to serve God, the enemy will seek to hinder her ministry, but if a believer, we have One stronger than Satan living in our hearts fighting for us. And battles are never won without fighting!

But when we go to war, we need to be adequately equipped. We are admonished: “To put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the powers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So take unto you the whole armor of God that you maybe able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Standing therefore, having your loins girt with the truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith; wherewith you shall be able to quench all the firery darts of the wicked one, and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watch thereunto with all perseverance and supplication of saints.” Ephesians 6: 11-18

Heavenly Father, we live in a world with much wickedness; it grieves You, but Your desire is for Your children to fight a good fight and be victorious. We can not do that alone; so help us each day to wear the whole armor of God and spend time in prayer. We pray for victory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
