Rounding the Bases of Life

Our 7 year old grandson made a home run last night. It was a stop and go sort of run. He made it to first base and the other team overthrew the ball so his coach urged him to keep going. Then he rounded second and headed for third. He almost got tagged by a player and ran back towards second. Again the reprieve of an overthrown ball and he went on to third after all. Finally, the coach and the parents too urged him to run on home. He was elated! We all hollered his name out loud as he sat in the dugout with the biggest smile, his hand on his chest as though he was about out of breath!

Oh beloved, baseball and life are a lot alike. You are running the race of faith. God is watching over your every move. And the enemy will overthrow his strength time and again. In the heavenlies the angels are cheering and the Lord is urging you on. He speaks enthusiastically with every word. You’ll never hear Him speak down to you or threaten you as you try to make it. He always encourages, equips, reconciles and restores. And even if you get stopped here and there in life, God will pick you up and urge you on. He gives fresh fire and renewed energy as you wait on His signal to live and move through life. Even when the enemy seems to have won you are the winner. Christ in you the hope of glory and the reason you know you will make it. Holy Spirit anointing gives you the urgency to remain steadfast no matter how many other voices are speaking.

God loves you and He’s for you! Listen to the Lord alone! Take His cue for the bases of life. Rest when He gives you rest and know that your life is a home run of faith no matter what as you live in the Light of His Power for Living!
