Rumors of Wars

Yesterday we had a great day together. In spite of wars and rumors of wars. Just sayin.

My sweetie and I took the beautiful sunny day as an opportunity to go do some things and spend a Christmas gift card from one of our kids. During the day stuff happened of course. We had a phone call that didn’t go well. But one of the main things was we got word that Danny’s best buddy since early elementary went home to be with Jesus.

Frustration and sadness threatened to totally take over our day. The sun kept shining, the weather kept being perfect but inside our car the enemy wanted to take over. Royally. Fortunately, we have Jesus, and He must have presided over our conversations and prayers until we could move on forward with our day.

Oh beloved, there will always be a battle – wars and rumors of wars. But you can always move forward in faith as you allow Jesus to preside over your entire day and all its contents. The truth is that old enemy has an uncanny way of bursting in on your best day to give gut shots to your faith, your hope and your prayer life. If he can get you upset enough. And then you turn inward. Prayer is left out. This makes for the most miserable life ever. You and I have to keep our guard up because bad things are going to try to take over our best days.

God wants you to know the battle belongs to Him but you can’t go AWOL when it happens. Our focus has to remain on the Captain of our Army not the enemy’s battering ram. Even when you recognize the enemy it can be hard to pull yourself away from his lies to focus instead on the King of Truth. But if you will pause, breathe and pray – God will show up, Holy Spirit will shore you up and the Word will come to your mind. Sigh. Of. Relief.

God loves you and He’s for you. Momentary light afflictions on the best days. Rumors of war on the most peaceful days. Run to the Father this morning and thank Him that so far you have survived 100% of all the stuff that comes at you! Rejoice in His truth! Drink freely from His fountain of power. Ask for fresh fire and more wisdom. You don’t know what day might be rough in the middle of great. So keep trusting the Lord, keep praying for yourself, your marriage, your family, your friends and the strangers God puts on your heart along the way. And live, beloved, above the fray, knowing that the battles indeed belong to the Lord!

Psalm 24: 8 Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle.

Psalm 144: 1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle

Psalm 120: 7 I am for peace, but when I speak, They are for war.

2 Corinthians 10: 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, AMP

2 Corinthians 6: 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses.
