Searching The Headlines

The headline reads “After decades of searching Mark Twain’s signature was found inside a famous cave”. The authorities go on to declare that they are 99% sure it’s authentic. Imagine spending decades searching the walls of a cave. Not hieroglyphs or petroglyphs from thousands of years ago but a kid’s signature. Maybe.

Oh beloved, what have you been searching for? For some of you it’s been indeed decades. Are you hoping that it will make a difference in your life – this thing you are searching for? God wants you to know this morning that He is the Searcher – He searched for you as a lost sheep. And your search should revolve around searching for Him as hidden treasure. The truth is whatever you are searching for, the world loves to keep it so very elusive. Searching for love – but it’s found in Jesus. Searching for acceptance – again found in the fellowship of Christ. Seeking out your own path for significance? There again, it must begin and end in Christ. For nothing of this world ever truly satisfies. It’s a good thing. Then we’d hang onto our lives and our accolades and our bank accounts. But God says I AM your answer.

When God sees you hoping for change, He responds. He gives you beauty for ashes. When your search brings you up with nothing, He gives you everything. Even in the hurtful rejections and shattered plans He is the One who gives you all things for life and godliness. Even your choices to search change when you hand them to Him. Searching in a cave for something you aren’t even sure of is nowhere to live. You were born again to live in the Light and pursue holiness and spread the Good News!

God loves you and He’s for you. Reach FORWARD to Him and ask Him for a fresh outlook on the future – your future with Him. He has written on your heart everything you will ever need. He gives you adventures of a lifetime all wrapped up in the life of faith in the Son of God. Run to Him this morning and thank Him for the gifts of LIFE and walk in His wonderful plan today!

Philippians 3: 13-14 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Psalm 27: 4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

Isaiah 43: 18 But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.

I Chronicles 16: 11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.
