“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven,You are there! If I make my bed in the grave, You are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me is night, even darkness is not dark to You; night is bright as day: for darkness is as light with You.” Psalm 139: 7-12
God is a Spirit, it is possible for Him to be all the following: omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. And since the Bible teaches these truths, as believers we accept them, but what does each mean?
Omniscient means that God has complete and unlimited knowledge, awareness, and understanding about all people and circumstances. So nothing can escape His knowledge. And He does shine as brightly during darkness as during daylight and nothing can be hidden from Him; not even the secret intentions of the heart: because He understands them even better than we do.
Omnipotent means that God is all powerful; when referring to Him as God Almighty, we are ascribing all power to Him. Long ago God asked Jeremiah if there was anything too hard for God to achieve.
Of course the answer is there is nothing. Jeremiah 32: 33. Now we come to God’s being omnipresent which includes His ability to be present at all times and in all spaces. Even so He is not limited to time or space, But His omnipresence should be a constant reminder that we can do nothing without God’s awareness.
Prayer: What an awesome God is our heavenly Father; yet not too great to stoop and wipe tears from a hurting child’s eyes, give comfort to a grieving parent, heal wounded, broken bodies, and adopt lost and wandering sinners into His family. Jesus made the latter blessing possible so we pray and thank You in His name. Amen.
