Stop and Rest

A friend of ours used to travel back and forth across the country as an evangelist. He and Danny were talking one day and he asked if he had ever seen the Grand Canyon. He told Danny that he had been through there many times, but never had the time to stop and look. Too busy traveling to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way. Even such a sight as the Grand Canyon couldn’t get him to take a short stop to see the treasure and beauty of God’s creation.

We can be like that. We can get so busy serving the Lord that we get even busier. We get to moving so speedily through life, that we forget the needed to stops to behold the beauty of the Lord and to gaze upon the wonders that are found in Him alone. If we’re not careful work for family, work for the Lord and work itself can cause us to forget to take time to delight in Him.

Oh beloved, God speaks to your heart this morning. He’s asking you to stop and take a rest. He’s calling you to His Presence. He knows you are busy, but He wants you to know that it is time in His Presence that will refuel you for the days ahead. Your ministry, your work, your family, even your marriage are dependent upon your time spent in sweet fellowship with Him. He says that there is much more to life than getting from Point A to Point B. He loves your voice and He is honored to have you speak with Him in sweet fellowship.

Without Him you can do nothing. Your flesh might take over and life can become so routine, but when you spend time with Him, He renews your focus, your strength and your joy. Many road hazards are found along the way – the enemy will try to keep you busy and you may lose your spiritual productivity altogether. Take time to be with the Lord and find your delight in Him. He will divide your busy-ness and multiply your yield as you walk with Him and seek His face and find your delight in Him.

God loves you and He’s for you! Run to His Word this morning, before the busy travels of life take over. Just a few moments in adoration, worship and praise with the One who gave you life itself, will change it all. He will give you time to all that you need, to enjoy the scenery of your life and still give you the wonder of living in the Light of His Glory and Grace.

Psalm 27:4  One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.
