The words to a hymn came to my mind this morning. “There is sunshine in my soul today…” There is one thing about me that is true true true. I love sunshine. An occasional cloudy drizzly day is okay, but extended cloudy days aren’t for me. The dreary days make me feel dreary too. As I look at the radar and read the forecast I see that freezing rain weather is not far west of us and a huge line of heavy precipitation even closer to our borders. Hopefully it won’t last long. But we will turn lots of lights on in the house and make our own sunshine so to speak.
Oh beloved, dreary weather is something we have to deal with. But being dreary is something we can overcome. Even when things are so very hard we have an inner sunshine that gives us joy in the midst of it all. To be sure there have been times I just wanted to fall down and weep and I did. But God lifted me up and walked me on through the dreariest times of my life. He will do this for you precious believer.
God knows what you’ve dealt with. He has seen your anguish. He even understands your frustration at the general fog of disappointment and discouragement. He is speaking to our hearts, both you and me, this day: Sometimes you have to create your own sunshine. When we allow the Son to shine into the recesses of our hearts He promises to remove the sorrowful feelings and replace them with pure joy. Pure joy, the kind that comes from relationship with the Father, will also give you strength when you’re weary and comfort when you’re down. Talk about a mood lifter! There are things in all our lives that need lifting. Let’s face it. Life can be harsh, grueling, depressing. But life in Christ takes us on a new outlook – gives us a fresh map that promises more for us than what the world predicts.
You, beloved, are God’s chosen one. Chosen before the foundation of the world to show forth His praises. He’s brought you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. He’s given you a life that radiates His glory. He says no despair and no drama can drown out your light. This dreary time of your life is not your destiny, nor is it permanent. You will get through it and you will show others that God is with you no matter what. It’s a glorious time to build Son Shine in your soul. Your joy combined with adoration and praise to the Lord will kick the enemy to the curb and give you blessings beyond your daily grind.
God loves you and He’s for you. Rise, shine and give God the glory! Focus on Him and praise Him for everything that makes you an overcomer, victorious and full of unprecedented sunshine as you walk in the light of His Glorious Word!
I John 1: 7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”
I Peter 1: 8 “and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.”
Psalm 40: 2 “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”
2 Corinthians 4: 6 “For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
