As the Rains Come Down

Rain from storms have been falling down recently in Southern California. Some may laugh at those of us who don’t care to be out in the weather or driving in it. I come from the midwest where there is rain and snow and storms all the time. We desperately need the rain here in California, but I have grown to appreciate sunny, dependable days and don’t realize how spoiled I am until faced with weather changes. Not all days are sunny and dependable and the rains do come down in our lives. How we deal with those rains says a …

He’s In Our Boat

There are so many different types of boats. Fishing boats, speed boats, canoes, cruise liners, the list goes on. Boats are centuries old and has been a mode of transportation since the days of Jesus. I finally managed to put it into gear and escape a horrible accident. God was in that moment, just as He is in every day of my life. He was trying to get my attention. I gave my life to Christ as a teenager and even then, rebelled and tried to live life on my own. None of us know the mind of God, but I can imagine that it’s hard …

We Can Trust Him When We Are Scared

As I stepped out on my favorite dock, I noticed that the water was higher than usual.  I felt uneasy as I walked to the edge because I’d never been on it with that deep water before.  I knew that if the water rose much higher, the dock could easily be emerged and flooded.  Do you ever feel like that in life sometimes?  I sure do, especially right now.  I don’t know why we’re called to the deep waters sometimes, and I don’t know why there are scary and unpredictable storms in life.  This reminds me of Peter walking on …
