Gifts and Desires and Destiny!

A friend’s post mentioned that her children are reading The Boxcar Children series of books. That really touched my heart because those were some of my favorite books when I was a child. And I was thrilled that there are still children who still love to read books. I looked up the author, Gertrude Chandler Warner, and find out that from the age of five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her grandfather, and each Christmas she gave him one of these stories as a gift. Oh beloved, what gift are you dreaming of? What heart …

His-story

We all have a history. If we’re smart, we will have learned from our mistakes. God’s history is all laid out in the Bible. From the beginning of time to the future He has for those who believe in Him. I’ve been a Christian for a long time, but it’s only been in the last 20 years that I’ve developed a deep relationship with God. God’s been in my history and He remains a constant now. How about you? Do you have a history with God? Do you know His Story? History defines and touches our lives. How does your …

Walk, Stand, Sit

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2) Is it just me or have you felt a shift in energy recently? Almost an urgency that you cannot quite put your finger on, but know something is moving, breaking, exposing and revealing. Well, in my quiet time this weekend, I read through this Psalm in its entirety again and again masticating over the words repeatedly, bit by bit, like how …

Alternate Reality

The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like yours. Your ways are not like Mine. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts are higher than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9 (ERV) Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in Me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you …

His Rock, Your Wave

THE ROCK, His work is perfect; ALL HIS ways are entirely just. A faithful God, without prejudice, HE is righteous and true. (Deuteronomy 32: 4) Have you ever really examined a rock? I mean really examined it? Or even better, have you ever wondered why a rock is named a rock? Well, let us take a moment to get out of what we are thinking right now and shift to this topic for a few minutes. A rock is a solid mass that is formed by three different mechanisms but the running theme is that it is SOLID. …

Our Present Darkness

As I came into the dark bedroom one morning where the computer/office is now I noticed something in the chair. I reached out to touch it in the dark and it was a group of tiny stuffed animals all arranged just so. One of the grands had been playing in this room and the evidence sat mutely there. I laughed as I switched on the light and discovered which toys they were. Without the light I had no idea what it was. Oh beloved, God speaks to my heart. Sometimes we just have to reach out in the dark. We …

Steady As She Goes

God says I AM that I AM. I AM your Captain and I will navigate you safely to the yet unseen shore.   “Steady as she goes.” I hear these words as I get up this morning. So of course I look for the origin of the phrase and I find it quite interesting. Here is what I read: It is a instruction from the captain to the helmsman of a ship, to keep the ship heading steadily on the same course regardless of gusts of wind or cross-currents. And then I read these words: When in vicinity of the …

Life’s Storms

The I 30 corridor…not a pleasant phrase when the storms are kicking through in East Texas. I watched them all day yesterday, first one tornado warning and then another. It was the positioning of the storms that gave me pause. So often in the past those East Texas storms would fly up the interstate and cause us problems in Arkansas. At one point I got a text from a precious cousin, whose daughter and husband were on their way to a storm shelter near Texarkana. We prayed together via text and asked God to watch over them. Finally, the storms …

Connect with God

Connection is a warm word. It draws us together. It says we belong. It is relationship with love as the glue. We need connection. So does God. He Loved First Genesis 1 tells of the world that God created.  He created people in His image. Then He loved us first, despite our sins (I John 4:19). While we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8), He gave His only Son as a blood sacrifice to pardon our sins and allow us entrance into heaven (John 3:16). Now, He is in heaven preparing a place for us to live forever (John 14:2). …
