The Word of God-Is It Your Delight?

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”  Psalm 1:2 If we were watching ‘The $100,000 Pyramid’ game show, and the category was “The Bible” … what clues would you expect to be offered? Perhaps your list might include: Rules Dos and Don’ts Legalism Some people might even add: Drudgery Unattainable Oppressive The writer of Psalms would use this word: DELIGHT. Breaking Barriers

On this day headlines are something that really caught my eye this morning. The first from October 11, 1947 was about Chuck Yeager, who became the first person to pass the speed of sound while flying the experimental Bell X-1 plane at an altitude of about 43,000 feet, going 700 miles an hour. As kids we all heard planes making a sonic boom. Now you don’t get to hear about it anymore because noise abatement regulations halted supersonic flight (by civil aircraft) over U.S. land. Stop and Rest

A friend of ours used to travel back and forth across the country as an evangelist. He and Danny were talking one day and he asked if he had ever seen the Grand Canyon. Even such a sight as the Grand Canyon couldn’t get him to take a short stop to see the treasure and beauty of God’s creation. We can be like that. We can get so busy …

What Is A Perfect Christmas?

I must confess the picture in my mind of my house decorated for Christmas looks far different from the actual situation at this time. In my mind there are no dishes in the sink and no sale papers on the coffee table. In my mind the mantel is absolutely perfect. In reality it’s well… it’s getting there. What used to take hours now takes several days. I feel like my theme this year is Random Acts of Décor. LOL Sometimes it feels like God’s design is Random Acts of What? We see chaos, mismatch, and a continual mess that needs …

Even A Sandwich

It’s always true that it’s a small world. One of our nurses was born and raised in a town near where we live. Her dad owned the local teenage hangout that all of us went to back in the 70’s. You could say we hit it off. Yesterday, I was looking online thinking about supper. I thought about ordering something and having it delivered to me. I saw Jason’s deli and remembered how good a muffuletta sandwich is. But then I thought how silly it would be to have just a sandwich delivered to me. I decided I’d …
