Gifts and Desires and Destiny!

A friend’s post mentioned that her children are reading The Boxcar Children series of books. That really touched my heart because those were some of my favorite books when I was a child. And I was thrilled that there are still children who still love to read books. I looked up the author, Gertrude Chandler Warner, and find out that from the age of five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her grandfather, and each Christmas she gave him one of these stories as a gift. Oh beloved, what gift are you dreaming of? What heart …

The Wise Men’s Journey

The three Magi had watched the stars for most of their lives. They felt there was much to learn from the bright celestial bodies which hung above them in the night sky. So, when a new star made its appearance, the men were amazed by its brightness and wondered what it could mean. New stars didn’t just appear like this one had. It must foretell something wonderful. They had heard of the prophecy that a baby would be born and become King of the Jews, so they traveled to Jerusalem and inquired of King Herod where they could find …

Discard The Leftovers

This morning as I realize our refrigerator is full past capacity and bursting at the seams with leftovers, I am trying to remember what my parents did with the leftover Christmas food. We will keep those delectable dishes for a couple of days – maybe even have a plate or two of the remains. But beyond that I have learned to discard it before it ruins altogether. So not only will our beloved live now crunchy Christmas tree go, so will the holiday food. Oh beloved, we may all want to discard the leftovers of our holiday meals, but there …

The Giver of Gifts

Since the weekend was sunny for a change, we spent most of the two days outside. After church we came home and ate a quick lunch. After we did some gun siting (well Danny did, lol) we went to Iron Mountain marina and enjoyed spending a gift certificate that I had. We had forgotten all about that certificate, which was given to me spring of last year as I won a t-shirt design contest they put on. What a blessing for the New year! It reminded me that we should never forget the good gifts God gives us. We need …

You Are A Gift

I saw a funny Christmas graphic recently that I saved and sent to a couple of friends who are having issues. It read “Gonna go lay under the tree to remind my family that I am a gift”. If my hubby caught me laying under the tree he’d wonder what had happened to me! But the truth is – we all need an attitude adjustment. We are a gift. Every single one of us. Oh beloved, Christmas is the perfect time to adjust our attitudes. For some reason, even though the season is wild and wonderful, we often focus on …

New View, New You

One of our daughters got a new camera setup for Christmas. It’s got all the bells and whistles. She is sure enjoying photography like never before. They went out to the lake one afternoon and she took pictures of what appeared to be a group of egrets flying. The camera captures details that the naked eye cannot see by just observing. When she got home she realized it was birds of another feather. The camera caught something amazing. She had an “old” camera which is a pretty awesome camera itself. But she doesn’t want to go back to what she …

God’s Presence Unwrapped

Wrapping presents is one of my favorite things to do. I get a lot of joy out of thinking about the reaction each person will have over the gift picked especially for them. Sometimes I get busy wrapping and forget whose gift is whose. I’ve even been known to unwrap something to see what it is. At any rate wrapping a gift is fun. But watching each loved one unwrap those gifts is absolutely joyful! Oh beloved, God has already given you the best gift anyone could have. He has given you the gift of Salvation. This gift tops all …
