Faith

There have been seasons in my life when time seemed to stand still. Anxious to see a situation turn around, yet all was quiet from God. But I pressed on. I trusted Him in everything. Things may not have happened in my timing and that’s ok. My God is a God of miracles. I’ve seen it before and I know I’ll see them again. Faith is so important because it is the means by which we have a relationship with God. Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on Him—trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. It includes …

Finding Faith

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” – Matthew 17:20 To have faith means that you have a full belief and trust in knowing that something will work out for the good. This could be having faith that you’ll get chosen for a promotion at work, having faith that the pregnancy test you just took will come back positive, or having faith that the …

Choices

After the 40 year reign of Solomon, the ten tribes of the North decided not to follow Rehoboam, Solomon’s successor.  For 210 years, the Northern Kingdom was led by 19 kings whose choices led to destruction in the end. These kings were just, upright, and followed straight paths after the Lord.  One of these kings was Asa, great, great grandson of King David. Kings were to be leaders on many fronts: politically, economically, militarily, and spiritually.  God expected both kings and people to be loyal to Him.  King David was the standard; he set the example of integrity and wholehearted commitment.  …

Individuals are Accountable

What is God’s Will for Your Life?  In I Thessalonians, we learn that God’s Will for us is our sanctification. ( I Thess. 4:3)  Sanctification is God’s work in us as we grow spiritually, living in holiness pleasing and honoring Him. We are set apart for service and holiness.  It is a process of maturing in our faith and becoming more and more like Jesus. The hymnist gives us direction: “Take time to be holy, Speak oft with thy Lord; Abide in Him always, And feed on His Word; Make friends of God’s children, Help those who are …

Puzzle Pieces

Pieces of a puzzle lay on a table in my home. Some day it will be completed. I occasionally walk by and find a piece that fits and connect it. Life is like a puzzle at times. There can be many areas that are disorganized or lost. I look back on my life and can see where everything seemed to be off kilter. I was often frustrated and even wondered what was my purpose. I was running from God. I didn’t realize it then, but I was trying to figure out my next steps on my own. God was arranging …

Will You Trust His Perfect Timing

Ecclesiastes 8:6 (ESV) “For there is a time and a way for everything, Although man’s trouble lies heavy on him.” Surprisingly the first backup camera was used in 1956 on a Buick concept car and it wasn’t until 2014 the US Department of Transportation announced the camera requirement for new cars.  This technology made it easier for drivers to have wider views and see rear images clearly, which assisted drivers maneuvering their cars in a safer manner. As in life, clarity often comes when looking back through the rear-view camera or mirror.  Living with a  mental health diagnosis and …

The God of What You Desire and So Much More

The God of what you desire and so much more ‘God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.’ Ephesians 3:20-21 MSG My husband, Happy and I have been looking to move for the past 2 months or so. After going through several real estate agents and properties, I just got frustrated. In all honesty, I literally gave up. I was already worn out from all the other work …

Leave the 99 to Save One

Jesus will leave the 99 to save that one lost sheep. Are you tired of being tired ? Are you tired of living for your flesh? If you are that lost sheep the Father is calling you to come home. He is calling you to make your broken heart whole. The question you have to ask yourself is are you ready to be in the Shepherd’s care . Ready to do His will no matter what. We have to be willing to leave the worldly ways for His way. I want to encourage you to trust in …

By Faith

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11 For some reason I woke up this morning an hour earlier than I normally do. I then tried to will myself back to sleep but felt the urging to get up and get my day going. During this season in my life, when I sense the need to do something, I have learned to be obedient. As I become more discerning, I realize that is the Holy Spirit speaking into me and I just need to obey the call. Little did I know that the longing to write this morning would wash over me …

God is Faithful, Even When I’m Not

Faith is believing in something, even when the evidence is unclear. As a new Christian, I was on fire for God. I visited the elderly, volunteered at church, etc. I did all the right ‘churchy’ things I thought I should be doing. No one really told me what to expect, what’s next. They didn’t really say that this new life requires work on my part. But more than anything, no one told me that I needed to develop my relationship with God. I can’t blame anyone. They just assumed I was seeking God. If I could give one bit of …

Pork Skins and Scriptures

I have become a Connoisseur of pork skins. They come in so many flavors and they’re a really good high protein low carb alternative to potato and corn chips. I noticed on a new brand that I purchased there was a scripture at the bottom of the package. So I went onto their website and found more information about the company. Turns out they also have a page of information called Everlasting Life. That’s right, they share the plan of salvation. Here’s what they say – Every person has two great longings and inward needs. The first is to be …

Hiding Something?

A friend of mine has developed shingles. This is a very harsh illness that generally springs up during high stress times for those who have had chicken pox. Her physician told her as long as it’s covered up no one should catch it from her. Aren’t we like that? We have hard times, disturbing diagnoses or family troubles. We may share with close friends or family and we hope they will join us in prayer for healing. And it’s as though you hear the enemy say “as long as you keep it covered up”. Oh beloved nobody is totally immune …
