Let Your Love Scatter

One of the things I love to see in springtime is the tiny dandelions dotting my yard. I know to most it’s a weed, but for me it takes me back to my childhood where my wishes hung from its green stalk begging me to send them flying. I would pluck them up, close my eyes and blow my wishes to the heavens watching them soar. I have carried on this tradition all through my adult life, and now teach my grandchildren about the power of your heart. “These tiny seeds are only free when you release them. …

Walking in the Ways of God’s Love

Are you walking in the ways of God’s love? Are you striving to follow his commands? It’s important in the last days to stay connected to Jesus and his word. As believers, we should be walking in his ways and not in our fleshly ways. We have eternity to look forward to. Don’t allow the temporary things in this world to mislead you. Fix your focus on Jesus. He can calm the storms in your life if you will allow him to. Keep pressing in towards the goal. Be patient in the trials and continue to walk in his love. …

Invite Them In

“Come to Me.” Matthew 11: 28 Jesus invited others to Himself. He said, “Come to Me.” He was offering of Himself with no expectation of anything in return. The invitation for people to come wasn’t just for the well-mannered. It wasn’t just for the cleaned up. And it wasn’t just for the intellectual. The invitation was an open for all to come. How often do we as believers narrow the invitation that Jesus gave? We may not do it on purpose, but rather subconsciously as to only invite those we feel comfortable with. We must keep in mind that Jesus …

The Word is – Ocean

When I was young we lived near the ocean – well the Gulf of Mexico.  One day I was dipping my two year old toes into the waves, barely.  My parents were laughing and talking together on the beach.  I looked at them having so much fun and said, “I guess you guys are just gonna let me drown!” (I based that on the tv news that shared a young boy had gotten caught in a rip tide and drowned recently) Oh beloved, feel like you’re drowning in the ocean? Do you think God has forgotten you and is just …

The Word is – Loved

When I began writing devotionals God spoke to my heart. Choose your platform well He said. That will be what you are known for.  I said “I choose LOVE”. Hence all my devotionals call the readers Oh Beloved! When you’re at your wits’ end – You are loved When you don’t know what you will do – You are loved When you have been rejected – You are loved When marriage falters, health fails, friends fail, church falls flat, people become distant, money gets short, when others misunderstand, when prayers aren’t answered, when life happens Oh beloved, You are loved. …

Showing Real Love

My husband LOVES Pawn Stars, the reality show on the History Channel featuring business at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada. In one episode a man brought in a violin he had found in an old chest in a barn he had recently purchased. After dusting it off, he discovered the word Stradivarius inscribed on the inside. He brought it to the pawn shop –of course, hoping to discover it was genuine – meaning it could be worth millions of dollars. An expert was called in to examine the near-perfect instrument. He …

Do You Love Me?

Jesus asked this question of Peter not once, not twice, but three times in John 21 (see verses 15, 16, and 17).  Some scholars say one time for each of the three times Peter denied his Lord. In John 21, Peter’s relationship with Jesus is restored. Without this passage, Peter’s key role in the early church and events recorded in Acts might not make sense.  John 21 documents Peter’s restoration and his commissioning for Kingdom work. You and I perhaps relate to Peter more than any of the other disciples.  We, too, can be impulsive, passionate, and fearful. We too, have …
