This Season Will Change

I’m pretty sure that winter was created so that spring would be more appreciated. As a child I don’t really remember winter causing much problem. Although I know it was cold, I don’t remember suffering in any way because of the cold. Standing outside waiting for the school bus or playing in the snow: neither of these things bring memories of hardship. I do remember the year that it was snowing so hard the school bus driver didn’t see me standing on the porch. Did we even have snow days back then? Oh beloved, are you feeling the chill of …

Bless His Name

Have you ever had a moment where you just had to stop and give God the glory? In the book of Daniel, there was a powerful King who ruled the land. A tyrant, to say the least. The contrast of where his heart was as a domineering king is made apparent next to Daniel’s humble obedience and utter dependence on the Lord. When Daniel’s three companions would not bow down and pay homage to King Nebuchadnezzar, it was ordered that they be bound and thrown in the fiery furnace. The three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were found to be …

You’ve Been Made To Last

I still have outdoor chairs that belonged to my parents. They’ve been painted and repainted but they are still sturdy and able to be used. How old are they? At least 50 years old. I also have the folding type lawn chairs, at least the newest ones my hubby has bought. They are not so old because they weren’t made to last that long. Oh beloved, God speaks to my heart. You were made to last. This season is rough. It’s like a hurricane in many ways. It has blown us around. It has turned things upside down and crushed …

God’s Plan

My dad liked to move a lot. I am remembering one move in particular this morning. I was almost 9 and I was glad to leave the school I was attending. But I also had to leave Nipper behind. He was one of my favorite dogs of all time. A border collie mix, he went everywhere I did. We lived in the country and I spent a lot of time in the woods, at the creek on our property and riding my bicycle up and down the red dirt roads. He was always at my side. The day we left …

Even A Sandwich

Even A Sandwich     It’s always true that it’s a small world. One of our nurses was born and raised in a town near where we live. Her dad owned the local teenage hangout that all of us went to back in the 70’s. You could say we hit it off. Yesterday I was looking online thinking about supper. I thought about ordering something and having it delivered to me. I saw Jason’s deli and remembered how good a muffuletta sandwich is. But then I thought how silly it would be to have just a sandwich delivered …

Never Alone in the Storm

It has been a very stormy night in Arkansas. It began earlier in the day with heavy rains all during the day in the northern half of the state. There is thunder rumbling in the distance even now in the early hours of the new day. Nobody minds a spring thunder storm but this has been an intense amount of weather. It’s gone on for too long and it hasn’t let up yet. It is relentless. Friends have even spent time in their safe places and some are still there at this hour. Thousands are without power. Oh beloved, the …
