Woke up with a new message one morning recently: Winter Weather Advisory. Once again the message I receive is unbelievable. Yesterday people were fishing on the lake and our windows were open at home. Today we are asked to prepare for the opposite. Oh beloved, aren’t we glad that God never changes? Not ever. He is the same through the ages. And in this age, He is calling people to come into His presence and live in His Spirit. It doesn’t matter what the message from the news reporter is. God will not leave His own or forsake them. How …
The Platter
When I was making the most recent birthday cake I had a particular platter that I wanted to put it on. Try as I might to look for it I could not find it anywhere. I could even remember putting it somewhere but couldn’t quite remember just where. Then while I was texting my precious cousin sister friend in faith, I told her to please pray that I would find that platter. She prayed right there on the text. And I told her I would text her as soon as I found it. I returned to the search with a …
Let His Love Wash Over You
Awhile back I was feeling down and decided to go for a walk. The sky was a dark gray and filled with rain which matched the mood I was in. I put on my rain boots and headed out needing some kind of escape. The gentle rain smelled good as it hit each blade of grass and fallen leaves that littered the land. “Lord, I’m feeling kinda old I guess. I find myself worrying over things I have no control over and I’m just tired. I try to stay positive, yet deep in my heart I’m hurting. I …
Watch Out For Collateral Damage
I watched a great western yesterday. The Man From Laramie starring Jimmy Stewart. He headed to a town that was “owned” by the biggest rancher in the region. His younger brother had been killed there. Long story short, the son of the land baron was working with the ranch foreman selling guns to the Indians. The son was so angry that everything he did was a catastrophe. The collateral damage of his personal animosity eventually cost him his life and that of his father. Oh beloved, we have a choice. We can let our issues become so angry within us …
Does God Believe in You
Has anyone ever asked you, “do you believe in God?” If you answered yes, and followed through with it, you’re a Christian. But, have you ever asked yourself, “does God believe in me?” And, what does that really mean, anyway? God created humanity and every living thing on earth. Those of us who believe this know that we serve an amazing, omnipotent God. He’s everywhere, all the time. He existed before time itself and yet, we rarely ask ourselves, “does God believe in me?” Does He believe me when i say I love Him and want my life to change? …
You Are Worth More Than You Think
“God is within her; she will not fail.” Psalm 46:5 Do you ever have days where you just don’t feel good enough? No matter how far you may be on your walk with Christ, we all still have these kinds of days. As we get older, we start to look in the mirror and see the wrinkles, and we may start counting the gray hairs. We also may have gained a little weight because as we age, our metabolism slows down. You feel like that is who you are now and it hurts. I, myself, have lived a hard life. I didn’t …
We Could All Use A Little Inspiration
We caught the end of a new series on tv, Superman and Lois. Another Superman show. But the twist in this one is they return to the farm he was raised on with their own two sons, who find out just who their dad really is for the first time. There are some interesting twists followed by a prologue with one of the producers. Part of what he said caught my ear. “We all need a little hope, we all need a little inspiration…” Oh beloved, we do don’t we? In this season there’s not a lot that inspires us. …
Are You Running From What is Right
If you’re a Christian, you probably know about the story of Jonah in the Bible. You know, the guy who gets swallowed up by a large fish? Well, you also know that this was no coincidence that this happened. God was trying to get Jonah’s attention. You think He did what He was set out to do? I think so. You see, Jonah knew what was right. He knew where God told him to go, but he ran from it, and you see the trouble he got in by not listening to God. This happens to a lot of …
Are We Doomsdayers?
Doomsday Predictions abound but we are called to seek His face, read His Word and practice His love, mercy and grace. Hubby decided he wanted to watch a movie about a scientist survivor of a man-made plague that transforms humans into bloodthirsty mutants. Yeah. I just couldn’t watch it. While I have no fear I still didn’t want to watch a movie about a plague that wiped out most of the world. A little close to home. Oh beloved we are in what they are calling a pandemic. Some folks are sure it is the beginning of the end. Others …
God’s Discovery Channel
God is allowing us to discover new insights and fresh truth. We are entering uncharted territory. Nature has thrown us a curve that science hasn’t even found truth for. I am sitting here this morning wondering what the message will be and I hear the word Discovery. We love the Discovery Channel. I am more drawn to the nature type shows and hubby likes the science and technology stuff. We have plenty to watch for both of us. Oh beloved, this morning God is giving us an opportunity in this rough season. He is opening up for us a …
Searching The Headlines
The headline reads “After decades of searching Mark Twain’s signature was found inside a famous cave”. The authorities go on to declare that they are 99% sure it’s authentic. Imagine spending decades searching the walls of a cave. Not hieroglyphs or petroglyphs from thousands of years ago but a kid’s signature. Maybe. Oh beloved, what have you been searching for? For some of you it’s been indeed decades. Are you hoping that it will make a difference in your life – this thing you are searching for? God wants you to know this morning that He is the Searcher – …
Embrace Your Beauty In Christ
We were in the giant discount store trying to find some discounts we really needed when a friend called out my name. I had already told Danny that because I had my hair up, I would see people. Self-conscious about the hair in a pony tail I laughed and told her about it. She responded by telling me she liked it and I ought to wear my hair up more often. We visited a moment longer and she I we were on our separate ways. That one statement changed the rest of my trip to the big store. We saw …
