The Word is Loyal

First, let me say loyal doesn’t apply to a handful of people on this planet.  Not really. And second, let me tell you I pray to be a loyal person, loyal to God first and loyal to my loved ones, friends and family. The most loyal person I’ve ever met is Jesus.  When He introduced Himself to me it was forever and He has never left me or failed me. He won’t rat me out, in fact He talks fondly to the Father about me. And He rebukes the enemy on my behalf.  He is a loyal friend who has …

Bad Things and Good People

This week we will be having a family funeral. I’ve been processing this incident for several days. It’s been very hard. Danny’s precious cousin lost her life at the hands of someone masquerading as a friend. She walked into heaven, not as a special needs woman of 66 years, not as a beaten and battered victim, but as a completely whole woman of God. For that we are forever thankful. Her father, Danny’s Uncle, has been a minister of the Gospel for well more than 50 years. He has held hands with the dying, comforted the grieving and married and …

Coffee and Life Can Jolt Us!

I was intrigued by the new brand of coffee I spied. 50% of proceeds goes to veterans. Loved that! So instead of picking up our usual brand I picked up a bag of this new brand’s Rise and Shine light roast. Well when I made the pot of coffee it was delicious. But within a few minutes My chest hurt and I found myself jittery. I realized that this coffee actually has more caffeine, so I got a jolt to start my day! What do you drink of first thing? The troubles of the day, the losses you have had, the …

Don’t Be Alarmed

I woke up this morning to the phone alarm and a loud truck driving by. The alarm is mine and the truck is a neighbor’s. In fact, that neighbor heading to work was a little boy who came to play with my older grandkids a few years back. Amazing how time rolls on. Waking up to alarms and roaring trucks is okay but I can think of more peaceful ways to enter into a new day. Oh beloved, what kind of alarms are you waking up to? Is your mind repeating the lies of yesterday? When you get up do …

Stop and Rest

A friend of ours used to travel back and forth across the country as an evangelist. He and Danny were talking one day and he asked if he had ever seen the Grand Canyon. He told Danny that he had been through there many times, but never had the time to stop and look. Too busy traveling to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way. Even such a sight as the Grand Canyon couldn’t get him to take a short stop to see the treasure and beauty of God’s creation. We can be like that. We can get so busy …

Go Ahead and Love Yourself

Love is in the air…It’s February, the month of Love, and I am thrilled to be taking over My Journey of Faith for Faith Post Friday this month! Hi!! My name is Sarah, and I am going to be your looooove coach! Not relationship love, though we’ll cover some of that too. I’m talking about God’s Love! Specifically, how to use love to drown out hate as a woman of Faith. And we’re going to start with YOU!!! I don’t know about you, but I struggle with making time for self-love. I feel like we, as women, are pressured by …

One Constant

One Constant     We realized after coming home from the rehab hospital that we had been gone so long that our local discount store had been completely repainted. Time does not stop while we are experiencing difficult times. Things change. We change. Life changes. But one constant in all of life’s ups and downs is the Lord. Oh beloved. God is not going to disappoint you. When you are at your worst moments or when things are completely changing in your world He is still God. He wants you to know that He is with you. …

Deeper Reliance

Deeper Reliance     After nearly 44 years of marriage trust is what we have. I trust Danny. He’s never done me wrong. He trusts me too. Right now he has to trust me a lot. Decisions, plans and all have to be sorted out. I cannot rely on my own understanding. I need a wisdom beyond self. My emotions may tell me what to do. They certainly want to. But I am looking for a deeper reliance- one I know will turn out right. I’m calling on God.  Thankfully I can talk things over with Danny too. …
