Staying Humble

Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Ephesians 4:2 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” When Jesus came to Capernaum, a centurion, an unlikely man, asked for his help to heal his servant (Matthew 8:5-13). Humble Yourself

He is able to humble those who walk in pride (Daniel 4:36) For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14:11) During my devotion time this morning, God reminded me to continue my journey through the book of Daniel which I started earlier this month, but I got a little sidetracked until I picked it back up again this morning. King Jehoshaphat

Scripture: Psalms 107:1 – Give thanks to the Lord; for He is good. His steadfast love endures forever   Message: Recently the Old Testament story of King Jehoshaphat came up in my reading and it’s a very noteworthy story especially in the face of adversity because well they were, too! A short summary can read, king Jehoshaphat gets word of enemies invading the land and his response is to seek God. He doesn’t only seek God but he gets others to do so, too. His faith is seen by taking the action of fasting. The king’s prayer overviews some of God’s character, his promises, and …

Humble Beginnings

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”  2 Chronicles 7: 14 Bible Verse for Meditation: 2 Chronicles 7:1 3-15   Humility. What comes to mind when you hear that word? Well, if we were having a conversation about this, I would probably tell you that when I think about this word, I often think of the character of Jesus and it is a word that we …

Praying Not Complaining

Another devotional I read earlier today is a good one. In it, the author shares about how King Cyrus allowed the Jews to return back to Jerusalem, to rebuild their Temple. He notes that if God could change The King of Persia, then he could surely change the leaders’ minds of our land, whether city, state, or national. Since we’re coming up to a Presidential election next year, it behooves us to pray for our leaders, rather than complaining. We need God’s guidance in choosing the right person for the job. So far, all I’ve heard is bluster, no substance, …
