Staying Humble

Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Ephesians 4:2 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” When Jesus came to Capernaum, a centurion, an unlikely man, asked for his help to heal his servant (Matthew 8:5-13). Humble Yourself

He is able to humble those who walk in pride (Daniel 4:36) For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14:11) During my devotion time this morning, God reminded me to continue my journey through the book of Daniel which I started earlier this month, but I got a little sidetracked until I picked it back up again this morning. All I can say is if you have not read the book of Daniel recently, I encourage you to do so during this dry valley of a season we are …

King Jehoshaphat

Scripture: Psalms 107:1 – Give thanks to the Lord; for He is good. His steadfast love endures forever   Message: Recently the Old Testament story of King Jehoshaphat came up in my reading and it’s a very noteworthy story especially in the face of adversity because well they were, too! His faith is seen by taking the action of fasting. The king’s prayer overviews some of God’s character, his promises, and …

What comes to mind when you hear that word? Well, if we were having a conversation about this, I would probably tell you that when I think about this word, I often think of the character of Jesus and it is a word that we …

Jesus Washes Disciples Feet

Jesus Washes Disciples’ Feet Scripture: “Then Jesus poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciple’s feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around Him. ” John 13: 5. The following is far more than a wayside ministry it was an example of the humility believers are to demonstrate to their fellow believers. Before Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew His hour had come to leave this world and return to heaven, during supper after Satan had put it into the heart of Judas to betray Him, Jesus rose from the table, laid aside His outer garment, tied a …

Praying Not Complaining

Another devotional I read earlier today is a good one. In it, the author shares about how King Cyrus allowed the Jews to return back to Jerusalem, to rebuild their Temple. He notes that if God could change The King of Persia, then he could surely change the leaders’ minds of our land, whether city, state, or national. Since we’re coming up to a Presidential election next year, it behooves us to pray for our leaders, rather than complaining. We need God’s guidance in choosing the right person for the job. So far, all I’ve heard is bluster, no substance, …
