You’re Worth The Blessing

Danny and one of his best buds spent the evening sitting with yet another best bud.  They did this to help his wife be able to come visit with us at a women’s retreat.  So I got to be with two of my besties as well!  Doesn’t God do amazing things for us? Oh beloved, God wants to do amazing things for you! He already has.  But He also knows your heart’s desires.  Deep things down inside you haven’t shared with anyone.  Maybe you’ve hardly whispered in prayer to the Father about it. He says watch for …

One Constant

One Constant     We realized after coming home from the rehab hospital that we had been gone so long that our local discount store had been completely repainted. Time does not stop while we are experiencing difficult times. Things change. We change. Life changes. But one constant in all of life’s ups and downs is the Lord. Oh beloved. God is not going to disappoint you. When you are at your worst moments or when things are completely changing in your world He is still God. He wants you to know that He is with you. …

Deeper Reliance

Deeper Reliance     After nearly 44 years of marriage trust is what we have. I trust Danny. He’s never done me wrong. He trusts me too. Right now he has to trust me a lot. Decisions, plans and all have to be sorted out. I cannot rely on my own understanding. I need a wisdom beyond self. My emotions may tell me what to do. They certainly want to. But I am looking for a deeper reliance- one I know will turn out right. I’m calling on God.  Thankfully I can talk things over with Danny too. …

Prized Possession

Prized Possession     We went to Danny’s first outpatient rehab after we got home. They had many questions for him. We had questions for them too. After all Danny is a prized treasure to me. I have only his best interests in mind. Peace love and quiet are what he needs now. Along with rehab therapists who care about the patient and will take an active interest in their recovery. We were blessed and excited to find out that we had chosen a place where one on one therapy and excellent state of the art equipment would …

For Freedom We Are Set Free

For Freedom We Are Set Free How often do we take our freedom for granted?  Not only do we tend to get calloused toward the everyday freedoms we have (speech, religion, etc.) but, as Christians, it’s sobering to realize how often we become numb to the personal freedom offered through the Holy Spirit as well.  We go through our day to day lives with narrow thinking, guilty conscious, worry, fear, anxiety, selfishness, and sin.  Yet Christ said in John 10: 10 “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (NASB) This is echoed again …

Do You Have Some Questions?

We had to attend a stroke education meeting. As I looked around the room feeling very uncomfortable I tried to pretend I did not belong there. Just then I heard the voice of another woman pierce the quiet conversation of the teacher. “Excuse me. I have some questions. Who sent me here? I don’t belong here. I did not sign up for this.” Oh beloved can you relate? When we sign up for this life of faith it looks pretty easy. After all we aren’t being burned at the stake nor are we being hung on a …

Joyful Call to Worship

We hadn’t been in a church building in nearly a month with hospital and then rehab hospital. But we had church. Fellowship with Jesus becomes so much sweeter when He’s all you have to hold onto. Danny and I have watched more music videos from VTN and enjoyed various preachers. We also took communion together after hearing a televised pastor talk about the importance of it. Just like at our wedding it was just the two of us – only with cranberry juice and saltines. It was the most touching event I’ve experienced in a long time. …

Trust Jesus or Not

We traveled to Little Rock on May 6th. This was my first devotional to write sitting with my husband in a hospital room. We’d never done this before. It was not my plan to have a wild ride via ambulance. Nor to be spending the night in a hospital. But here we are. We have two choices – trust Jesus or not. Oh beloved, things may not be going the way you want. You may have prayed fervently for a different situation. The Lord wants you to know this day that you have nothing to worry about. He will always …

Help From the Sanctuary

Most days in hospital were pretty easy. One particular evening was rough though. Changes were made to help in the healing process. It was a low moment especially for me. But God being God and full of love and goodness He allowed me to see the reality of the Scripture “He sends help from the Sanctuary”. Think about this!!!!!! An angel in the form of a night nurse from Nigeria came in and took his vitals and then began praying over Danny for healing and touching Him and praying the most amazing peaceful prayer I’ve ever heard.  Then she prophesied …

What’s Your Focus?

Do you ever wake up with drama?  Many times I do, it seems there is always something going on to focus on.  During one such time in my life when my circumstances looked bleak God spoke something profound into my heart. Philippians 4: 18 “At this moment I have all that I need even more than I need.” God reminded me to stay in “this moment” with Him.  At this moment, God has provided jobs for both my husband and me.  We all had breakfast and lunch and there is food in the fridge.  At …

Faith Will Produce Good Works

In Ephesians 2: 8-10 Paul wrote,  “For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has before foreordained that we should walk in them “ I remember after my salvation, though unlearned concerning most of the Bible, there was a desire in my heart to begin serving God.  I believe this should be the desire of every true believer. Though I was not employed and …

Freedom in Jesus

Freedom in Jesus…three words that hold a multitude of meaning. Once you meet Jesus, the freedoms you experience are innumerable. One that has been on my mind, recently, is the freedom to dream. I’ve been thinking about it more than I ever have, so believe me when I say, that’s a LOT! You see, most of my life has been spent dreaming. When I was a kid, I would literally spend hours at a time just letting my mind create scenes that I hoped would someday come true…some were feasible, but others were just plain outrageous.  I suppose it could …
