Heart Issue

Matthew 19: 16-25 “And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness;  Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  The young …

A Mountain Out of a Mole Hill

I wanted to share a big lesson that I learned yesterday and that carried over to today.  Have you ever had something come up that was really nothing but that if you thought about it long enough you could make a mountain out of a molehill?  Well that happened to me yesterday.  Something very small and insignificant happened that really just got under my skin. The more I thought about it the madder I got.  As I was praying for God to fix the other person or show me how to bring it up to fix the other person He …

Lessons From My Cat

I just love it when God uses something natural to teach me a spiritual lesson.  That is what He did this morning. We live in the country surrounded by a pasture and woods on 3 sides.  So inevitably there have been a few fury “friends” come up to my house that were most unwelcome in my book. After the first fury “friend” was found inside I took matters in my own hands.  I got a cat.  A beautiful calico cat aptly named …. Calli.   She was a inside cat for years but my cat is a hunter and she would …

Valuable Lesson Found in the Sun

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: … 11 He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” Baby, it is hot outside!  Summer is a season that seems to bring the best out in people.  The warm sun on our face makes us feel rejuvenated from the cold of winter.  We feel better physically, are in a better mood and are on …

Valuable Lesson Found in the Thunder and Lightning

Job 37:4-5 “After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard. “God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend.”     “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” John 8:12 Have you ever thought of all the different sounds thunder makes?  As I have gotten older I find myself listening more attentive to the things of God.  Thunder is …

Valuable Lesson Found in the Rain

Joel 2:23 “Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully and He will cause the rain to come down for you — the former rain, and the latter rain”. Rain, when I think of rain I think of good sleeping weather.  I just recently had a new tin roof put on my home.  As I lie in the bed at night listening to the ping, ping, ping of the rain drops on my roof I get very sleepy.   There is just something about the rain …

Valuable Lesson Found in the Ice

Job 37:10 “God’s breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water.” Not only did we have snow this winter, we had ice as well.  I never thought about the ice being the breath of God until I read this scripture. I remember watching the television news stations and hearing about all of the people in the state that were without electricity because of the ice.  I was fortunate enough to have only lost power for less than a day.  We had about an inch and a half of ice in the Arkadelphia area. I sat in my living room …

Life from Bones by Heather Patterson

I began the year on a cloud that carried me for many months. We were still tan from a trip to Disney World. My dad’s January surgery went great and if April’s went as well, he would be cancer free by May! I had a book released about finding our identity in Christ, then was allowed to speak to over 100 women at my church on it one night, then teach it through a 10 week study. My husband was doing great in his school, and we entertained thoughts of all the different places we could move once he graduated. …

Seeing His Mastery by Brittany Glaze

“Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas. Storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall see stars.”  ~Francis Drake What a prayer! The magnitude and intense belief to even pray this is something to be appreciated. This dares me, dares me to be free. It dares me to question if I’m living in the freedom I am promised through salvation. Free to trust God and all His mastery! The past year, 2015, was full of wider seas, storms, and loss of sight of land. Unlike Drake, I had not prayed this …

A Yielded Heart: Rebekah’s Story

As a little girl I would recite the wishes of childhood. “Star bright, star light, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight!” But always, as long as I can remember I would always end it with “Dear Jesus, please hear me”. Jesus was always a focal point in my life. My first answered prayer that I could visibly see was at 7 when I prayed diligently for a baby doll and on Christmas morning that exact doll was present under the tree. You may say, well your …

Healing Grace

A dear life-long friend sparked my memory today about a friendship that was mended only by the grace of God and it just made me smile. I am not the easiest friend to have.  I don’t say that for sympathy or to have a pity party or anything of that nature, but I can recognize my flaws. Someone who trusts very little and has people-pleasing tendencies with the added “always thinking someone is mad at me” feeling is just not a great combination for attributes in a wonderful friend!  If nothing else, I am OVERLY self-aware! I have ALWAYS longed …
