Power

Being the victim of a power outage can be humbling. One minute you have lights and heat, and then quiet, stillness. As a Christian we have the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s always available. But when we neglect it and do our own thing, the power wanes and at times can be snuffed out. It’s a sin to grieve the Holy Spirit. This is a part of God. Stay tuned into God. Get to know Him. Many people who do not really know God nor fully understand the scriptures, try to live out of their own strength and …

Remembering

Reflections from Corinne’s Garden Magnifying Light of Jesus in Our Daily Lives Day 5 ~ Remembering “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. “ John 8:12, NET We are inclined to grumble, to be thankless, or to complain about our circumstances, God graciously reminds us that we must remember “Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all; won’t He also give us everything we need.” – Romans 8:32 Recently I stopped by Hobby Lobby …

A Day of Soul Stretching Exercise With Jesus

Reflections From Corinne’s Garden Magnifying the Light of Jesus in our Daily Lives Day 4 – A Day of Soul Stretching Exercises with Jesus “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. “ John 8:12, NET As we move closer to the end of this week I want to look at what it means to stretch our souls. 2 Peter 1:5-8 enlightens us with ….”.In every effort to respond to God’s promises supplement your faith with a generous portion of moral excellence”……….When I …

Don’t Look Back!

Have you ever looked back at something the Lord has brought you through and still had a sense of doubt? Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt for being tempted to look back at what they were leaving behind. God intends for us to keep our eyes focused forward. To be in the present, not the past. Sure, the past will creep in and remind us of either things we have done, said or felt. Sometimes, that past isn’t all that bad. That past has been used to shape us, but it does not define us. …

Light

“You are all children of the light, children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”  1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NIV) Imagine walking through an unfamiliar dark house? Imagine walking through a dense forest at night when clouds blanket the sky hiding the stars and moonlight. For me, both situations would bring fear and anxiety, especially if I weren’t holding a lantern or some source of light. Darkness is often a descriptor for depression. Whether you are the caregiver, the one suffering, or a concerned friend of someone who struggles, you have most likely felt …

Chronic to Release

We woke up early one morning. By early I mean way before 4:30 am, which is my usual wake up time. Hubby’s back was hurting a little, so we decided to get up and move around. It made me think of one of our precious family members who has truly suffered with back problems for many years. In fact they’ve had surgery several times, alleviating the problem some each time. Recently they had surgery again, but this time the outcome seems to be much more effective. Hopefully and prayerfully, her chronic back pain has truly come to an end. So …

One Day Closer

One day closer. Those are the three words I heard one morning recently. One day closer. It’s a good word from the Lord for us. It’s a positive rather than a negative statement. I know this event we are going through can be a pessimist’s daydream. But we aren’t pessimists because God isn’t. Oh beloved, you are one day closer. To that answer to prayer. To being released from social distancing. To seeing your loved one again. To gaining access to heaven. One day closer to whatever it is that is the longing of your heart. Most of all you …

The Light

We have a security light on Danny’s shop out back. It is probably the brightest security light I’ve ever seen. So bright in fact that when something trips the light our bedroom is flooded with light. At first it concerned me because I wondered what on earth was out there? It’s so bright you cannot see anything when you look out. Now I just know that when the light is tripped our place is flooded with light and that’s a real comfort. Oh beloved, whenever you need protection, God is the Light. Whenever you need to see into the darkness …

Where’s Your Place?

It’s not our place. To make people see their sin. To make people know our God. To fret, worry, finagle, scheme about our lives. It’s not our place to do anything but abide in Christ and show forth the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. But once we know OUR place, we can show others.  Where does God say our place is? At the Banquet table where He spreads a feast of life in the presence of our enemy. To fill the position we are called to in Christ. To walk in …

Let the Praises Ring

DAY SIX: We should start each day with praise.  We have no reason not to do so.  Matthew 10 says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.  But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”  He protected us while we were sleeping; He gave us the breath in our lungs; and He awakened us in the morning.  Before our feet hit the floor, we should give Him praise.  He knows the numbers of the hairs on our head.  He knows …
