A Mustard Seed Faith

I love to clean. I know that’s crazy, right? Most people I know turn their noses up when it comes to cleaning. That’s alright; it’s a messy job. One day as I was cleaning I found a book with a poem written in it. Reading the poem I thought to myself, “This should have been published.” The poem was written in my mother’s journal. Mom loved to write (I guess that’s where I get my love for writing.) Since my sweet mama died 5 years ago, the words I read were extra special to me. And I would like …

Faith in the Battle

As Christians we have ways of combating the devil’s evil plans for making us miserable: We can humbly pray and ask God to let us resist the enemy. We can remember the promise God make to us that He wouldn’t put more on us than we can bear. We can put on the armor of God. “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the …

Faith in the Storm

One day Jesus had had a long day of healing the sick and casting demons out of people. I imagine He was tired and needed to care for Himself for a little while.  He told His disciples to “Cross over to the other side of the lake.” Jesus got into the boat to cross the lake with His disciples. In the midst of their journey, a terrible storm came with high waves. Jesus was asleep when the storm approached. Everyone was scared so they woke up Jesus and Jesus asked them a question and then He performed a miracle. …

Faith in Believing

I can’t fathom how an atheist makes it through one day, much less a life time. It’s also difficult to understand how someone that believes in God but hasn’t made Jesus Lord of their life can make it through a day. I know Jesus and I struggle, but only because the devil is fighting against me. I always win with Jesus. After Jesus was crucified, He appeared to His disciples when they were meeting behind locked doors. They were filled with joy. Jesus showed them the holes in His hands and the wound in His side. One of Jesus’ disciples, …

Jesus Died For Me

Twenty-five years ago, a timid young woman sat in her Sunday school class listening to her teacher’s lesson. During the lesson she slipped out the door and hurriedly went to find her pastor. This young lady realized without a shadow of a doubt that the Holy Spirit was speaking to her heart – she was not saved. She thought back to a time when she was thirteen and supposedly prayed a sinner’s prayer. She didn’t know what she was doing. Now she knew she wanted to know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him. That young lady was …

Faith

What are your goals? What are your heart desires? We all have them. Our God is a powerful, mighty, God. He owns everything, so we can dream BIG. What about everyday struggles? For instance: Trying to make it financially from paycheck to paycheck. A problem child who continuously gets into trouble at school. Surviving a night without an argument with your spouse. God states clearly that we should attend to our struggles. James 2:17, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” So, this means we have to take steps of faith …
