Listen in Limbo

You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. (Deuteronomy 13:4) The world right now is in an interesting place; everything is uncertain, any sense of normalcy discontinued and our state of affairs are out of order. In this time of being in limbo, where we all feel confused and on pause, we must be certain of where we stand with God and which side of the fork in the road we are walking because this determines …

Sit Still and Listen

Often times I am asked how do you hear from the Lord? I want to hear from Him but it’s silent in my prayer time, but can’t. The Lord’s presence can be found in silence, humility and openness to His voice. Sometimes the Lord just wants us to sit still and ask. Often times when I am seeking His answers I must quiet myself down and read a scripture, like Psalm 23 Psalm 23:2-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. …

Sometimes A Push

Sometimes I claim I want to hear God, I ask and pray but yet after many tears, prayers and even some bargaining with God I still don’t have it. I still can’t hear. The problem is…me. I know God is still there just a He has always been, He continues to speak.  I have just moved away; moved away to the point that I cannot hear. Once again I find myself trying to “drive” instead of allowing God, but all the while asking God to speak-tell me-guide me but really at the same time not wanting to hear what he …

Do You Hear Those Wings?

Do You Hear Those Wings? Ever heard the sound of a hummingbird, as it flits in front of a flower, or a bird feeder? I have, and it’s amazing. In Ezekiel and John respectfully, God voice is described like “the sound of angel’s wings.” Ezekiel 1:24,“When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings.” Ezekiel 1:28, “Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy …

Listening for God’s Voice

As I listen to the birds singing every morning, I wish I could distinguish one bird from another. I identify the honking geese as they fly over the lake. And I hear the woodpecker, as he raps for his meal. I can see the difference between a robin and a sparrow, but I can’t tell them apart by their songs. My husband Dan recognizes the voices of many birds. He knows the robin’s sweet song, and he is familiar with the squawking blue jay. He even points out the mimicking mockingbird. I’m learning a few tips from him. Recognition. I’ve …

Can You Get To the Phone? It’s God

A subject that has become near and dear to me is that of accomplishing God’s will for your life.  So many Christians live on this earth without ever realizing their instilled potential, something the Lord intended to be used as they carry out His work.  And, let me tell you, it takes a lot of faith (and patience!) to keep doing what needs to be done in order for His will to be fulfilled.  These devotions are coming directly from my own personal experience – just highly abridged – and I hope what I’ve learned can help some of you! …
