What Love Does

Several years ago we had a nasty snow and ice storm to move in. Having livestock we still have to feed, water and check on them daily, no matter what the weather conditions are like. They simply depend on us for their survival. We had just moved a group of cattle to a pasture that had a bridge over a very steep creek bed that separated one pasture from another. My husband Wayne, was worried the cattle was stuck on the other side of the creek bed away from the feed lot, so we loaded up in …

Let His Love Wash Over You

Awhile back I was feeling down and decided to go for a walk. The sky was a dark gray and filled with rain which matched the mood I was in. I put on my rain boots and headed out needing some kind of escape. The gentle rain smelled good as it hit each blade of grass and fallen leaves that littered the land. “Lord, I’m feeling kinda old I guess. I find myself worrying over things I have no control over and I’m just tired. I try to stay positive, yet deep in my heart I’m hurting.  I …

Let Your Love Scatter

One of the things I love to see in springtime is the tiny dandelions dotting my yard. I know to most it’s a weed, but for me it takes me back to my childhood where my wishes hung from its green stalk begging me to send them flying. I would pluck them up, close my eyes and blow my wishes to the heavens watching them soar. Renew Your Mind

Early mornings have always been my most favorite time of the day. When the land awakens and dew drop kisses brush against my feet as I take my morning stroll. I always walk down to our pond that has a dock and sit while watching God paint the eastern sky before me. Breathing in the crispness of morning time, I allow this newness to fill me up for whatever may come my way today. I’ve watched dragonflies skim the waters surface, seen deer grazing nearby, watched the winds turning the head of our windmill in the direction they want …

Your Gift

We have several pecan groves we harvest. There is a lot of work before harvest time begins. Limbs that have broken off will have to be picked up and moved, so our harvester can scoop up the nuts without having limbs stuck in it. Some trees refuse to release their fruit by hanging on to them tightly, so we have a shaker to shake them loose when this happens. Then there are those trees whose fruit is halfway decent, meaning some of the nuts are good, and some have nothing but dried up meat or wormholes all in …

The Road Home

We live off the beaten path with miles of dirt and gravel roads. Living so far out has a lot of perks and its fair share of disadvantages. My closest grocery store is over 12 miles away, which makes me frustrated if I happen to run out of something. Cattle and tractors are my traffic jams, and not a day goes by that our vehicles doesn’t need a good washing. On the flip side, I have miles of nature begging to be explored, I never have to worry about closing my blinds or curtains (because I don’t have any.) And …
