Conquering Fear

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Mark 5:36 “Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Fear is one of the most disabling forces against man. Fear can emotionally and spiritually weaken a person. Fear steals one’s joy. It can prevent a person from doing the good that God planned for you …

His Weapon of Mass Instruction

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 ESV) Guess what? We are in a battle. We have been in one …

Dressed to Kill

This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world.  (Ephesians 6:12) The apostle Paul very well knew that we would engage in spiritual warfare, therefore he affirms that our spiritual battles are constant with an enemy who is crafty and full of evil. The enemy is masterful and cunning and will go to any measure to disarm us from our faith.  He comes against us with different methods, and if he fails at one, …

Where are you most tempted? Proverbs 14: 16 – “The wise fear the Lord and shun evil, but a fool is hotheaded and yet feels secure.” Temptation is the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise. Temptation comes in all different forms and not everyone is tempted from the same things. For example, if you put a piece of dark chocolate in front of me, I will be tempted to eat it, but if instead it was a plate of french fries, I could probably turn it away. Most times when temptation comes, we think we can argue …

The Power

The other day we were driving down the interstate and a uhaul truck passed us. That’s not unusual but what we saw next we had never seen before. It was pulling a Tesla. I don’t know why but I thought that was just a little odd. An average uhaul carrying a very unusual, quite expensive car. I took a picture of it. This morning I notice the words on the back of the truck – “15’ Super Mover”. Oh beloved, did you know? Have you heard? Because of Jesus, believers carry with them priceless cargo. Holy Spirit cannot be purchased …

Winning Team

The trip to the ballpark was exceptional. Watching the Rangers play the Astros, both Texas teams, was great! Of course we were there to watch the Rangers. In the 9th inning they were behind. It appeared that the Rangers were going to lose. Except at the bottom of the ninth inning they pulled ahead and won! It was awesome how the team ran out in the field together and celebrated the win- both the final score and the hitter who brought then from behind. Oh beloved, you are on the winning team. It may look impossible . You may have written …
