Renew Your Promises

I’ve heard of people who renew their wedding vows, years after their wedding day. This is a visible reminder to each other and to others that they are committed, still. We can make promises to our kids, family or friends with good intentions. But, what happens if we break a promise? First of all, a trust is broken. A once intentional vow to another has been shattered, ripped apart. It’s hard to get back the trust from a severed promise, but it’s possible. As a Christian, we don’t have to worry about God giving promises that …

Hold on a Second

“However it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’- the things God has prepared for those who love him- these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2: 9 and 10). Read it again, take a minute and soak it in. I want you to think about something for me. These two verses make a really big claim, a promise, that if you are not looking and thinking about you will miss.  It …

Life Changing Events

Life Changing Events         We’ve had a few life changing events in our life. The birth of children and the passing of parents are at the top of the list. Focus on Who Your God Is

A 6-Day Look at a Desperate Dilemma From 2 Chronicles 20 Overview passage:  2 Chronicles 20:1-30 Today’s study:  2 Chronicles 20:5-12 “Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard and said, ‘O Lord, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven?  You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.  Power and might are in Your hand and no one can withstand You.  O our God, did You not drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people …

Look for the Escape

There have been many times in life where temptations have seemed impossible to overcome. As I watch my children playing it is evident that they face the same struggles. Today, it is the challenge to stay focused and clean rather than sit and play. I know that their tomorrows will bring temptations, temptations that will carry greater consequences then a simple scolding from their mother. If it were not for God’s promises, promises He has proven true in my life many times, I would be fearful for my children. 1 Corinthians 10:13 speaks of God’s faithfulness. …
