If I ask you today, “what is your purpose in life?,” what would you say? You might say, “I have no idea” or you may tell me exactly what you think your purpose is. God created each one of us with a purpose in mind. And, ONLY God knows the answer to this question. If you’re unsure, or really have no clue, just ask Him. God listens to His children and He never dismisses the desires of our hearts. Just make sure when you ask ‘what is my purpose?’ that you’re ready to do what His will is …
Pray with Purpose
James 5: 16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” Bible Verse for Meditation: James 5: 13-16 About one year ago, God began to nudge me to form an online prayer group. I was not sure why and did not feel qualified enough to organize it, but I did so after much hesitation. It started with five and then decreased to four around the fifth month, but then began to pick up great …
Bow and Arrow
In my late 30’s and 40’s, I was introduced to hunting. I tried various types of guns, but my weapon of choice was a compound bow and arrow. Although a little more challenging, it was fun to practice, trying to hit the bull’s eye. With a bow and arrow, you have to be patient, but purposeful, direct and confident. I’ve given up hunting, and to tell you the truth, the only way I could kill an animal is if I was hungry and needed to eat to survive. I relate the bow and arrow to my Christian walk. In order to …
Work While You Can
Some individuals must become unable to perform work before they really appreciate the blessing of being able to work. However, perhaps some who read this devotional are longing for retirement and restful days. But as one who took early retirement at almost sixty-two, my retirement days have been extremely busy years. That is not my desire; so allow me to close with this little poem: Let’s work today: for we aren’t promised tomorrow, …
The Hunt
While on the hunt for a particular item we wanted to buy, we found the cheap, the cute and the outrageously priced – all in the same item. We finally went to the standard mega store and found exactly what we wanted for much less. You’d suspect we sacrificed quality or style to save on the item. But no, actually the least expensive was also the best design and made of the most durable material. The hunt for fulfilment can cost much. And yet, even after spending all a person has, they can still come up with nothing they wanted. …
God’s Word
Yesterday two things happened to acquaintances that just floored me. One received a text meant for another person. It was rude and maligning about the person who received the text. Oh my. The other person was supposed to be on hold but it didn’t work, so they heard the diatribe about themselves over the phone line. Oh beloved, you are so special to the Lord. It might be that you’ve been through this type of situation. It could have been recently or on the playground or the party line many years ago. It still hurts. You may not have ever …
