After Diagnosis

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:6-8 After my diagnosis, I prayed constantly. I filled my life with prayer, devotionals, …

Spiritual Exercise

Most of my adult life, I have been dedicated to physical exercise of some sort. Once I started in my early 30’s, I soon noticed how much better I felt when I did it regularly. But, more important than this is spiritual exercise. Engaging the mind in heavenly things is what I need to work on. Without a regular dose of spiritual exercise it could leave one’s life with a void and without meaning. Commit to exercising your spiritual muscles. Read the Bible. Talk to God, daily. Step out in faith in all areas of life. Once you …

Reading His Word

When you read the word do you get excited? Are you equipped and encouraged to start your day? I don’t know about you but when I read the Word it just makes my day and helps me to focus on Jesus. When you meditate on the scriptures don’t just read it just to read it and not get anything from it . Read it and soak up what the scripture is saying. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation and wisdom to understand His Word. Get excited to hear from him in His Word. Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call to …

Turning From the Faith

“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other ” Matthew 24:10 Perhaps there never was a time when man was faced with so many doctrines. Unless man uses the Bible as his authority, he can be deceived. Remember Satan knows and can quote scriptures, but without the correct meaning. Have you ever wondered why there are so many different church denominations? Jesus said there is only one true way to heaven and He is that way; so new believers who lack understanding of the Bible, need instructions about how to …

Study and Apply

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11) I wrote this title about one month ago during my devotional time with God as I asked myself and …

Going Deep With God

The title of this series of devotions is, “Going Deep”.  In the next six days we will be looking at ways to go deep with our God.  We will discuss how to go deep in the Word, in trusting God, in obedience, in God’s understanding, and in prayer.  I pray this series blesses you and draws you ever nearer to the heart of our Father. In Psalm 107 we read of those who are called out upon the waters, to the ships.  Those who are called to these places and are willing to go get to see …

Going Deep in The Word

Today we will be discussing going deep in the Word of God. Let’s start by defining the word deep. The definition of deep is to extend far down from the surface. The opposite of deep is shallow and means to stay on the surface.  What does it mean to go deep in the Word of God?  How do we do that?  And why would we? To go deep in the Bible means that we don’t stay on the surface.  We aren’t satisfied to skim the top or stay in the shallows…but rather we want to go into the depths …
