Stand Firm

Danny’s first visit by a physical therapist involved a belt. It was so colorful. It reminded me of a belt Danny had in the 70’s. The therapist put it around Danny and then they stood up together. Huge victory! He was standing firm. I now find myself having to stand firm. And I realize that it’s in the big mountains of life where we learn to stand the most firmly. Oh beloved, this is no ordinary day. This is the day when you can stand firm in your faith. You can stand for righteousness. You can stand against evil. And …

Concentrate and Breathe

Danny is being asked to concentrate a lot lately. It is hard work. But it is producing results. Sometimes he finds he is holding His breath and the visiting therapist will say breathe! I have had to remind myself more than once during all this to just breathe. And to concentrate. Concentrate on Danny. And most of all God’s Word and His faithfulness to it. Oh beloved, God is with you and He is telling you that you don’t have to hold your breath. He also says now is the time to concentrate. Remind yourself what the Word says. That’s …

Help From the Sanctuary

Most days in hospital were pretty easy. One particular evening was rough though. Changes were made to help in the healing process. It was a low moment especially for me. But God being God and full of love and goodness He allowed me to see the reality of the Scripture “He sends help from the Sanctuary”. Think about this!!!!!! An angel in the form of a night nurse from Nigeria came in and took his vitals and then began praying over Danny for healing and touching Him and praying the most amazing peaceful prayer I’ve ever heard.  Then she prophesied …

Ask God For a Word

When we were dating I could hardly wait each day to hear Danny’s voice. Before cell phones I would have to wait till evening each day. I have loved his voice for many years now. On the second morning in hospital I asked him for a word. He quickly whispered “beauty for ashes”. Oh beloved, God whispers to you this morning those words as well. You might be mourning a situation today but God will make something beautiful. This exchange of our lives doesn’t come from happier situations it comes right in the middle of the worst. And it only …

Assurance

When Danny was suddenly ill the first thing I thought was how could I live without him? That thought wasn’t about the money. It was about his presence. Forty four years of relationship was so quickly reduced to a pivotal moment. Sure he’s got life insurance. But I want him! As he has been recovering it’s been quite miraculous. And yet I cling to every moment as it has become even dearer to me. Snoring is even comforting. I may have a little problem even being away from him. He’s independent though so he will help me with that! Lol …

Rest

What if rehab was just a place to rest? What if nothing were done to help the patient heal or regain their strength? It would be a nice place but would that be helpful? Danny needed lots of rest and still does. But it’s the combination of things that is bringing about real change and total healing. Oh beloved God hears your cry for rest. He has seen your plight and He knows your heart. He also knows that you are in a battle for your very life. The enemy has pulled out all his plans and has executed them …

Help

In the last couple of months I’ve had to make quite a few phone calls. Lots of time has been spent listening to prompts to press a series of numbers to get to the right department. It’s quite a complicated effort to ever get to a living breathing voice. Even quite a few local offices now have these answering services. And frankly I just want to talk to a real person. Oh beloved life and phone systems can sure get complicated. One thing you can know – talking to the Lord requires no wait. You’ve been frustrated by things that …

Obedience

It’s time for our yard to be mowed. We have about an acre of lawn and it grows fast. Yesterday evening my husband asked me to try mowing it. I needed to learn. I just don’t much like riding mowers. But okay I said and he sat in chair while I made a valiant effort. It was awkward. I don’t like hills and turns. So I tried to avoid both. I managed to mow some areas and held my breath as it felt at time like I was going to fall over! But my desire to please him outweighed my …

Healing

My hubby had a stroke in May. When that stroke occurred we were in the midst of a misdiagnosis. They didn’t get it right. Twice. It was only because of the Holy Spirit speaking to a physician after my husband’s arrival in Little Rock that the real problem was discovered. I’ll ever be thankful for a woman up early for her quiet time who heard the Lord speak to her heart: “Go see that man in person.” She responded and came to see him in person and discovered that this could not possibly be a simple back issue. Now we …

Thankfulness

Faith always says thank you before God’s provision Danny blessing our meals is especially wonderful! He couldn’t for a while. In the beginning his words were mere whispers and his thoughts were jumbled. We thanked the Lord for meals anyway. As healing progressed his words came more naturally. Yes blessing the meal is especially wonderful to me now. Oh beloved. Your words may seem jumbled to you. You may not know in the natural if it’s worth it. After all you know what it looks like and you know how it feels. But faith says thank you even before God’s …

The Healthy Life

This is a commercial and a story. LOL Danny and I have both now received our medical results from Boston Heart Hospital’s wellness program. Best test results ever! Easy to understand and incredibly informative. Commercial aside, we both will be taking a few supplements that will increase our health, strength and hopefully longevity. Not just any supplements, but because our physician knows the best supplements we will be taking ones without fillers. She told us that a study was done on supplements from five different sources (stores) and found they had very little to none of the actual vitamins and …

No Limits!

We have had the same internet and cable plan in our home for years. Not until the company decided to upgrade have we had any problems. First our favorite channels were gone and so we decided to drop the cable part. Why pay so much for so little? Each month since we have also exceeded our data limits even though we never had done that before. Same plan now exceeding limits. One has to wonder just what is going on. Regardless we now have to be careful or we have to pay more for more data. Oh beloved, God is …
