Are You Dressed Right?

So far this year I have worn winter clothing one day and summer clothes the next. And as I type this we have had hot weather and storms after freezing temps yesterday morning. Can it get any whackier? Don’t answer that. Lol Oh beloved, this world and the system opposed to God is getting whackier and whackier. Seriously we don’t know how to dress for the occasion. Except you can put on the whole armor of God. You can wrap yourself up in God’s love. He promises to hide His own in the shelter until the danger passes by. Most …

Peace in Peril

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.(Psalm 4:8) We have officially begun the start of the first weekend of the seventh month, known to be the Sabbath month; a month seen by many religious leaders as a time to “rest” and recuperate spiritually. I thought about that today as our world seems so rest-less, convoluted and more and more confusing, which can create anything but rest. Have you sensed it? Can you feel it? Or is it just me? We are in some perilous times indeed but just …

Lay It Aside And Rest

This morning I am reminded that although I wear glasses, I don’t keep them on at night. I don’t sleep with them. I remove them and lay them aside. God speaks to my heart. Just as I lay aside my glasses at night so that I can sleep comfortably, so too He wants me to lay aside the troubles, the questions, the concerns of the day. He wants me to sleep well at night and I can’t if I don’t lay it all down. Oh beloved, what have you been wrangling with? What are you carrying to bed with you? …

A Carrier of Glory

Nothing like spending time in the dentist’s office. It was also time to update all my information, so paperwork was handed to me and as I filled it out It thought about all the diseases that I could have – it is quite the list on the paperwork. Thankfully I am not a carrier of all those things. I was blessed that the dentist even called me last night to check on how I was doing. Thankfully, again, I can say I am doing great. Oh beloved, aren’t’ we blessed that our lives are not just a list of things …

Stop and Rest

A friend of ours used to travel back and forth across the country as an evangelist. He and Danny were talking one day and he asked if he had ever seen the Grand Canyon. He told Danny that he had been through there many times, but never had the time to stop and look. Too busy traveling to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way. Even such a sight as the Grand Canyon couldn’t get him to take a short stop to see the treasure and beauty of God’s creation. We can be like that. We can get so busy …

Our Infallible Guide

Danny and I enjoy traveling. Sometimes by car, sometimes by truck and sometimes by motorcycle. In the last 40+ years he’s not gotten us lost one single time. He has an excellent sense of direction.  He doesn’t get turned around.  We’ve had a couple of “discussions” when I was sure he was going the wrong way. Of course inevitably he was right and I was wrong. He’s a trustworthy leader. He’s given guidance on trips with just the two of us. He’s given direction to large groups in trips across the country. I trust Him completely. I do not trust …

Write the Word Rest

I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119: 16   Do you find delight in the Word of God? Do you want to? Will you choose to make the Psalmist’s words both your proclamation and your petition? Will you ask the Spirit of God to help you make the Word of God your daily priority? As you and I will ourselves to “not neglect the Word,” our just-do-it commitment will be transformed to delight. Our have-to will become a want-to.  As God’s Word becomes your delight, I’m convinced blessing …

Rest

What if rehab was just a place to rest? What if nothing were done to help the patient heal or regain their strength? It would be a nice place but would that be helpful? Danny needed lots of rest and still does. But it’s the combination of things that is bringing about real change and total healing. Oh beloved God hears your cry for rest. He has seen your plight and He knows your heart. He also knows that you are in a battle for your very life. The enemy has pulled out all his plans and has executed them …
