Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:6 The word, credited, carries the meaning of assigning value or putting something into someone else’s account. Where NIV uses credited (as noted above), other versions translate this Hebrew word: Counted(KJV) Reckoned(NASB) My husband, the college professor, has often been asked by his students, “Will you give me credit for this answer?” or “Can I get partial credit?” In the old days, country doctors (and probably city doctors, too!) accepted milk or eggs in credit for services rendered. We use the phrase, “I’ll give you credit for trying…” It all carries …
The Mess
Early this week there was a huge spot on the floor in the office kitchen. We weren’t sure where it came from but I had an idea that something must have spilled in the cabinet below the sink. So we looked and sure enough a can of furniture polish had emptied its contents out on the floor because the sprayer was pushed as I closed the cabinet door the day before. Talk about a mess. We cleaned it up and now you can’t see there ever was a mess. Oh beloved, when God sees your mess He’s not horrified, He’s …
No Fairy Tale
Two of my grands rode in the car with me to the big store yesterday. On the way we talked about the Easter Bunny. I told them that I was so sure that he was real that I thought I saw him hopping down my street one Easter morning when I was about 4 years old. Caleb reminded me of the story of seeing Santa in the sky, which of course was us young cousins being taken for a ride by the older cousins who pointed out some starry anomaly in the sky on Christmas Eve (so that parents could …
Write the Word Righteousness
A focus on the Armor of God: The first piece of the armor mentioned in Ephesians 6 is the Belt of Truth. Knowing the truth helps us take our stand against the lies. But it’s not just enough for us to KNOW the truth, it must also change our behavior. In …
Quality Time
Quality Time Encourage one another daily. Danny and I are very busy these days encouraging one another. I encourage him as he tries new steps and gets more freedom. He encourages me not to hover. Lol What I’ve noticed is that things we were too busy for now are the sweetest. Simple things like holding hands and sitting together have become so very much more precious. Watching a movie. Laughing. Praying. Blessing meals even. Hearing his voice as he thanks the Lord for the meal is so beautiful. It’s like falling in love all over again. …
Prized Possession
Prized Possession We went to Danny’s first outpatient rehab after we got home. They had many questions for him. We had questions for them too. After all Danny is a prized treasure to me. I have only his best interests in mind. Peace love and quiet are what he needs now. Along with rehab therapists who care about the patient and will take an active interest in their recovery. We were blessed and excited to find out that we had chosen a place where one on one therapy and excellent state of the art equipment would …
