The Death of the Lamb

John the Baptist had said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”   It had been God’s divine plan from before the creation of the heavens and the earth for Jesus to become the sacrificial lamb for the sins of man. And now the Lamb of God was dead.  He had been sacrificed on the cross. Jesus had died from cruxifixction on a Roman cross. Everything seem lost to the followers of Jesus.  The despair was overwhelming.  The disciples were scattered and afraid the Romans would be coming for them. …

A Work of Beauty

It is amazing how a skilled sculptor can take a lump of lifeless ugly clay and form it into something of stunning beauty. Having tried this myself, taking clay into my hands, kneading it like bread dough, throwing it onto a wheel and forming it into a beautiful work of art or even an object of usefulness, this particular skill most certainly eludes me.  I have no talent when it comes to this form of art. My sister, on the other hand, shapes the clay with her hands, imagines what it will become and gently shapes and molds the …

Faith: God-Given Visions

Read Genesis 37:5-11 God gave Joseph two prophetic dreams. They would comfort him in the years to come as he would wonder how these dreams would be fulfilled and then again as God moved to fulfill the promises of Joseph’s visions in his life. God used two dreams while he was living at home in Canaan to prepare his family and to speak to Joseph of the things to come.  Joseph saw the sheaves and the sun, moon and stars bow down to him.  As you can imagine, these dreams caused quite a stir when he told his brothers …

Your Ministry Reach

If you have a Christian blog, a website, social media, or any other means of delivering your faith in Jesus Christ, your witness can be seen world-wide.  The internet reaches many more than you realize.  If a country has internet availability, your words and videos can be viewed. You have an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. My Journey of Faith Ministries recently had the privilege of sharing some of our “Tell Your Story” videos with a women’s conference in the Congo.  These precious women yearn for more about Jesus and how He works …

The Passover Lamb

John 1: 29  “The next day John (the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”     The Lord’s Passover   Through Moses, God gave instructions to His people to remember the Passover event.  Every year, God’s people would celebrate the Passover in the same manner:  selecting the lamb on the 10thday of Nisan; keeping it in their home for 4 days until the 14thday of Nisan; making sure there was no spot or blemish on the lamb; killing the lamb outside the door of their …

Sacrifice of Praise

Hebrews 13: 15 “through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.” The phrase “sacrifice of praise” has been ringing in my ears and lingering in my thoughts for weeks.  Over and over again I hear these words “sacrifice of praise” as I struggle to understand what the Lord is teaching me.  And in true fashion, today He revealed it to me and even gave me a song to sing!  No, don’t worry I will not record my voice and make you listen.  I will, however, as part …

To choose or not to choose…

“He said it would be hard, but he didn’t know how hard it really would be.” These words came from the mouth of my Mother a few years after Daddy passed away. They had been married more than 50 years and now Mother was learning to live without him. She would have to start a new life apart from her beloved. They had discussed the possibilities of which one would go first, Daddy had decided Mother could handle being alone better than he could. In her words, she told me “he was wrong, he just didn’t know how hard it …

From Grace to Gratitude

Have you ever had a word from the Lord? I mean a literal word. As I was reading my Bible and several of my devotion books, the Lord kept showing me this one word. It seemed to keep popping out of the page into my face. That word was “gratitude”. And like most words I had to stop and think about what the word meant. Well, of course I know that it means being grateful or thankful. But I wanted to know more. What was it again; a feeling or expression of being thankful or appreciative. Hmmm, so being grateful …

Grace and the Good Girl

I was raised in a Christian home and became a Christian at the age of 12. I knew I loved Jesus but I did not have a full understanding of salvation. I tried very hard to live like a Christian but failed many times and still do. I tried to “be good” and by some accounts I was considered “a good girl”. I did not consider myself to be good enough so I tried to be perfect! I am not sure how I came to put this upon myself but for some reason I believed that I had to be …
