There have been seasons in my life when it seemed that time stood still, unmoving. The death of my dad, my two brothers, my mom. We all get one chance every day. The same 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Hug your spouse. Play with your kids and grandkids. Spend time with the elderly. Call a friend. Tell someone your story. Time is precious. Don’t waste a minute of it. The God of the Bible is a God of purpose. He created time and we should learn how to manage it and use it …
You Can’t Hurry God, You Just Have to Wait
“Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with Him to come to his house and heal his little girl” (Luke 8:41-42). Jairus was desperate and we are told that he repeatedly begged Jesus. If there ever was a time for Jesus to hurry, perhaps getting to Jairus’ house was one of them. However, Jesus agreed to Jairus’ request so they set out toward his home. While pressing through the crowd, Jairus’ request was delayed by the interruption of a courageous and desperate woman who also needed healing. Time was not a factor …
Fast Forward?
Have you ever met someone that likes to read the ending of a book, before they start to read the story? Or, some that likes to fast forward a movie and skip all the boring parts? Well, what if we could fast forward our lives? What if we could skip to 2021 and miss out on all this chaos we’re living in now? Did you know that it says in the Bible that we (Christians) are to welcome trials? That sounds crazy, right? Why would we want to be grateful for the birth of this pandemic? Christians know their future. …
Time Wasters
Time Wasters We didn’t have much time to waste. Danny was in the facility to learn as much as possible quickly. His goal was to walk out of there and he concentrated on that and made effort to do so. How he walked and how he stepped had to be done right so that he wouldn’t learn a poor way of walking that would cause him problems later. You and I don’t have any time to waste either. There is much to learn in the Kingdom and we need to be as ready as ever. …
The Trap of Procrastination
Let’s face it. There are many tasks that we just don’t want to do. We put them off as long as possible because they are things we have to do, not things we want to do. Procrastination keeps us from fully living the way God wants us to. I didn’t grow up with perfectionist tendencies. However, I did wonder why I always procrastinated doing certain things. I read the book Time Management from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern when I was trying to learn to manage my time better. This book was life changing for me because she …
Too Many Hats!
None of us want to believe that we can ever have too much of a good thing: attention, money, desserts, etc. However, in the back of our minds, most of us can admit that we know excess leads to problems. Too much attention = aggravation (especially for us moms) Too much money (yeah, it happens) = discontentment and selfishness Too many desserts = well, that’s a no-brainer. I also think there is something often overlooked in most of our everyday lives that can be considered “excessive”, and that is the number of hats we wear. I’m not talking about fedoras, …
