You Can’t Hurry God, You Just Have to Wait

“Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with Him to come to his house and heal his little girl” (Luke 8:41-42).   Jairus was desperate and we are told that he repeatedly begged Jesus.  If there ever was a time for Jesus to hurry, perhaps getting to Jairus’ house was one of them.  However, Jesus agreed to Jairus’ request so they set out toward his home. While pressing through the crowd, Jairus’ request was delayed by the interruption of a courageous and desperate woman who also needed healing.  Time was not a factor …

Fast Forward?

Have you ever met someone that likes to read the ending of a book, before they start to read the story? Or, some that likes to fast forward a movie and skip all the boring parts? Well, what if we could fast forward our lives? What if we could skip to 2021 and miss out on all this chaos we’re living in now? Did you know that it says in the Bible that we (Christians) are to welcome trials? That sounds crazy, right? Why would we want to be grateful for the birth of this pandemic? Christians know their future. …

What’s the Hurry?

What’s the hurry? God created the heavens and the earth. The Bible tells us that the earth will pass away some day, but it also tells us that on Jesus’ return, He will bring a new heaven and a new earth. Isaiah 34: 4 – “All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree.”  When will this happen? No one knows. Only God knows the date and time of this future event. There’s only one …

Life Management is Time Management

A lot of successful businesses keep ahead of everyone else by how they manage their time. I’ve worked in 2 large law firms and I can affirm that time is money. Most people are particular in who they pay to do their business, or to represent them. Clients also research firms to see how proficient they are in handling certain types of cases in terms of time management. After all, if you’re paying an attorney to do some work for you and he/she’s charging $500.00 an hour, they better know how to manage their time. So it is with life. …

At The Appointed Time I Will

I just read six of the most encouraging words in the Bible, “at the appointed time I will.” Today I read Genesis 18. God is telling Abraham that Sarah will bear a child, a son. As Sarah laughs at the thought since she is past child-bearing age, God calls her out for her laughter and doubt. He then goes onto say in Genesis 18: 14, “Is there anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you and Sarah shall have a son.” At the appointed time, I will. Wow! There is so much in just …

Time Wasters

Time Wasters       We didn’t have much time to waste. Danny was in the facility to learn as much as possible quickly. His goal was to walk out of there and he concentrated on that and made effort to do so. How he walked and how he stepped had to be done right so that he wouldn’t learn a poor way of walking that would cause him problems later. You and I don’t have any time to waste either. There is much to learn in the Kingdom and we need to be as ready as ever. …

Take A Little Time

Take A Little Time     On the third day… Esther 5: 1a Esther chose to deal with the crisis in her world by taking time to fast and pray. Esther not only prayed … she prayed for three days. The edict has gone out.  This is CRISIS mode! But rather than just shooting up a quick arrow prayer, Esther makes time to do the real work of prayer – for three days. These words by Oswald Chambers were uttered hundreds of years after Esther lived: Prayer is not a preparation for work, it IS work. Prayer is …

The Trap of Procrastination

Let’s face it. There are many tasks that we just don’t want to do. We put them off as long as possible because they are things we have to do, not things we want to do. Procrastination keeps us from fully living the way God wants us to. I didn’t grow up with perfectionist tendencies. However, I did wonder why I always procrastinated doing certain things. I read the book Time Management from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern when I was trying to learn to manage my time better. This book was life changing for me because she …

Too Many Hats!

None of us want to believe that we can ever have too much of a good thing: attention, money, desserts, etc. However, in the back of our minds, most of us can admit that we know excess leads to problems. Too much attention = aggravation (especially for us moms) Too much money (yeah, it happens) = discontentment and selfishness Too many desserts = well, that’s a no-brainer. I also think there is something often overlooked in most of our everyday lives that can be considered “excessive”, and that is the number of hats we wear. I’m not talking about fedoras, …
