He covers the heavens with clouds; He prepares rain for the earth; He makes grass grow on the hills. Psalm 147:5 (ESV) During drought like seasons and during the journey inside of the wilderness, what a wonderful reminder of what He does, can do and has done. With worldly outside circumstances, we may become sidetracked by the things of “this world.” We may not be able to control certain elements, but we can control what and who we trust in. So my question for you is, who do you trust in? Who do you believe in? If God can …
Monuments of Victory
It says in the Bible, “there shall be no other gods before me.” This is referring to those of us who are making our own gods and putting them first in our life. I worship God, the creator of the universe, solely. It’s hard not to put other things before Him. Like family, spouse, church, jobs, travel, etc. But, the ‘stuff’ that keeps my eyes on Christ is reflecting on the seasons of victory. The monumental, notable times in my life is when God stepped in and saved me from myself. These important seasons of my life remind me of …
Final Resting Place?
Where my hubby grew up you can see for miles and miles and more miles. At night is especially so. The lights of Danny’s hometown can be seen from just outside the larger city, roughly 45 miles away. So it’s no surprise that we could see the yellow house of his aunt and uncle long before we got there. It has changed, but it remains the same. Good memories dwell in the yard and house. Our daughters’ first horse rides happened there along with other family fun. One can also see the cemetery where his father is laid to rest …
Victory in Everything
Victory in everything. We all love the thrill of victory. Some say they get a ‘high’ out of watching their team win a game. I love it when I follow a recipe and the results are mouth watering! Everyone loves to win, but how are you winning in life? Do you occasionally have little victories on the job that keep you motivated? Are you looking for opportunities to put a spark in your marriage? Are you consistently seeking to serve others? God wants to give us victory in everything. He wants our life to be successful, our marriages …
Winning Team
The trip to the ballpark was exceptional. Watching the Rangers play the Astros, both Texas teams, was great! Of course we were there to watch the Rangers. In the 9th inning they were behind. It appeared that the Rangers were going to lose. Except at the bottom of the ninth inning they pulled ahead and won! It was awesome how the team ran out in the field together and celebrated the win- both the final score and the hitter who brought then from behind. Oh beloved, you are on the winning team. It may look impossible . You may have written …
Battle Between Flesh and Spirit
Paul did not understand the war being waged in his heart after his dramatic experience on the road to Damascus. He wrote: “For we know the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want., I agree with the law it is good. So it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is in my …
Ever Been Stung?
When she was about two years old, our oldest daughter picked up a bumblebee that was on her swing set. She held it in the palm of her hand and even kissed it! It all happened so quickly that I knocked the bee out of her hand and grabbed her up. Nobody wants anything like that to happen to their babies! Especially when you know what it feels like to get stung. You avoid that as best you can. Oh beloved, when it comes to being stung, you know about it. You’ve experienced the sting of rejection, the bite of betrayal …
Trials Make The Believer More Beautiful
As I went into the store to pick up a couple of rotisserie chickens I saw two friends who are sisters visiting. I laughingly said, Hey ladies, blocking the aisle!” They turned and we laughed and hugged. One of the sisters had cancer a few years ago and she is a survivor. As I hugged her I looked and told her that she looks so young. She said sure and we laughed again. But I looked in her face again and truly she looks younger than she did before she went through her trial. God spoke to my heart: When …
God’s Word
Yesterday two things happened to acquaintances that just floored me. One received a text meant for another person. It was rude and maligning about the person who received the text. Oh my. The other person was supposed to be on hold but it didn’t work, so they heard the diatribe about themselves over the phone line. Oh beloved, you are so special to the Lord. It might be that you’ve been through this type of situation. It could have been recently or on the playground or the party line many years ago. It still hurts. You may not have ever …
Victory at The Nativity
I love nativities, so when Danny found another one we had purchased on an after Christmas sale I was thrilled. I knew the grands would enjoy putting it together because it was made like LEGO’s. When they came over they were indeed excited. The box showed what it would look like and they opened it up and began to work. The only problem was the size. The pieces to this nativity were so tiny! Not regular LEGO size but so small pieces fell down into the carpet. It wasn’t going to be easy at all. It was rather complicated. They …
Victory
We celebrated Memorial Day in rehab hospital. It reminded me that my dad was a highly decorated war veteran. Both world wars saw him in the line of duty. He was enlisted and sent overseas both times. He had some battle scars but his valiant fighting gave him rewards. My husband has been enlisted and so have I. He did not choose this battle but he has fought valiantly. And he is victorious. Oh beloved you didn’t choose the battle but you are in it. Everything the enemy could throw at you he has. You want to run …
Rest
What if rehab was just a place to rest? What if nothing were done to help the patient heal or regain their strength? It would be a nice place but would that be helpful? Danny needed lots of rest and still does. But it’s the combination of things that is bringing about real change and total healing. Oh beloved God hears your cry for rest. He has seen your plight and He knows your heart. He also knows that you are in a battle for your very life. The enemy has pulled out all his plans and has executed them …
