Lose That Treadmill

When Danny first got home from rehab he bought a treadmill. It helped tremendously with building back his stamina.  After he went back to work it just sat in our living room taking up space.  We’d been thinking about putting it on the swap shop and on Saturday morning we did just that. And within 30 minutes it was sold.  The coolest part was that a local pastor bought it to help with his recovery from health issues as well.  This treadmill will go fast, incline like you’re walking on a hill and measure your heart rate. But it won’t …

Coffee and Life Can Jolt Us!

I was intrigued by the new brand of coffee I spied. 50% of proceeds goes to veterans. Loved that! So instead of picking up our usual brand I picked up a bag of this new brand’s Rise and Shine light roast. Well when I made the pot of coffee it was delicious. But within a few minutes My chest hurt and I found myself jittery. I realized that this coffee actually has more caffeine, so I got a jolt to start my day! What do you drink of first thing? The troubles of the day, the losses you have had, the …

Anxiety

Our heavenly Father provides for the birds and animals we see; Therefore, we know He will adequately provide for you and me. He is aware of every little sparrow which falls upon the ground, And He will supply all our needs when no other help is found. God made provision for every living creature in His divine plan: Ere He created them by His almighty, but loving majestic hand. He provides us with ample water supply and enough food to eat, And gives necessary shelter to protect from rain, cold, and heat. Then God created mankind in in His unique and marvelous way: He created him with lungs to breathe the fresh, pure air each day, And gave him hearts …

Be Faithful and Delight in God

I believe including David’s faithfulness as a trait in his formula for security, indicates it is not an inborn trait. Even after faith is exercised, it can grow. A farmer or gardener can not cultivate plants until seeds sprout and come through the ground. Neither can an individual become faithful until after the seed of faith was planted in her heart. So faith planted in the believer’s heart at salvation needs to be cultivated in the believer’s life through service so it will grow. The word faithfulness isn’t listed as part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit; however, these traits of steadfastness, reliability, trustworthiness, constancy, and conscientiousness …

Concentrate and Breathe

Danny is being asked to concentrate a lot lately. It is hard work. But it is producing results. Sometimes he finds he is holding His breath and the visiting therapist will say breathe! I have had to remind myself more than once during all this to just breathe. And to concentrate. Concentrate on Danny. And most of all God’s Word and His faithfulness to it. Oh beloved, God is with you and He is telling you that you don’t have to hold your breath. He also says now is the time to concentrate. Remind yourself what the Word says. That’s …

Indecision? Try Grace Talk

“You know what killed that squirrel?” my husband Dan mused as we drove through our Arkansas neighborhood. Duh, I thought, a car ran over him. “Indecision,” he explained. Dan always seems to think in black or white terms – no grey areas. (“If you don’t like carrots, don’t eat them. If you hate working as a secretary, find another job.”) “Indecision?” I exclaimed. “Wait a minute! Are you comparing me to that squirrel?” Dan and I are living proof that opposites attract in relationships, especially in marriage. But after over 40 years of marriage, I think I’m finally learning a few …
