The Hope

We went to visit my aunt yesterday. She is so ready to go home from rehab. She was sure she was going home today. While we were there, she was convinced that surely tomorrow would be the day. After we left, I got the message that Thursday would be her day. She will be living, hoping and waiting for Thursday.

Scripture comes to mind – Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. I get it don’t you? Sometimes we can so focus on what’s going on around us that we get to feeling like a prisoner without hope of parole. But we aren’t – we are just ladies in waiting, hoping in God, and assured of our place at His table, no matter what. I need to know that, don’t you?

Oh beloved, what have you been waiting for? What are you longing for? Where does your hope lie? Is it a day, a time, or an event? Listen, beloved, God is bigger than that. God is never late and He isn’t slow as some count slow. He works your life out perfectly and right on time, just because He loves you. Your difficulties are no problem for Him. Your struggles don’t weaken His abilities. Your challenges don’t catch Him unaware and cause Him to question Himself. He is not only always with you, His Spirit dwells within you. You take Him with you! Into every situation. And because He is with you, your troublesome moments, days, years don’t have to weigh you down and cause you to give up hope.

And God wants to remind you that you aren’t destined to live for a future day. You can have the joyful power of living out loud today! Don’t wait. Today is your day and tomorrow is a faint hope of possibilities. But Today is alive and you are alive and God has given you this day as a gift to abide in Christ to walk in the power of the Resurrection, to hope in God and to live with an eye on who you are in Christ – a gift of yourself to this day. Today is the day to cling to His love, recite His Word that you’ve already hidden in your heart and to step out of the worries, fears and impending doom of tomorrow. Don’t waste another day because of doubts and fears! That’s not your calling!

God loves you and He’s for you. Take heart as you approach the Throne of Grace – He has overcome everything for you and has invited you to live in His love. Release the things you can’t change and hand them to the One Who is maker of it all. And live, beloved, in the Light of His perfect, protective love.

Romans 8: 38-39 Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 13: 12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
