The Spirit God Gave Us

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

A Spirit of Fear
Surely all of us, at one time or another, feel fear or have felt fear. Fear has become a natural emotion. In this world, we feel afraid because we are living by worldly standards and we all know who rules this world. He makes us to forget that fear is NOT within the spirit our God gave us.

A Spirit of Power
The same power that brought Jesus back from the dead lives within us. We have the power to defeat the enemy and to live victoriously over sin.

A Spirit of Love
Perfect love has no fear. Jesus said in Matthew 37-40, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Love is the opposite of fear.

A Spirit of a Sound Mind
Peter talks about this in 1 Peter 5:8-9. He says that we should “be alert and of sound mind.” We need a sound mind because the enemy is working to steal, kill, and destroy, but all we need to do is to hold tight to God’s Word.

So our Spirit makes us a new creation that has: 1) Power. Power to defeat the enemy and to live everlasting with the Lord. 2) Love, which casts out fear and 3) a sound mind. A mind that meditates on the Word of God and refuses to allow satan’s tricks, lies, and manipulations to enter.
