I woke up to the sound of wind and rain, so I checked the weather channel to see just how windy it was. To my surprise it said, “wind out of the WSW at 0 miles an hour”. It thought it was wind, but maybe it was just rain. What I did notice while on the website was a weather link that read, “extreme drought prompts governor to call for weekend of prayer”.
So much comes to mind in those messages. I remembered the Scriptures that say the wind and the waves obey Him. Aren’t we glad we aren’t bound by the troubles of the weather? If they have to obey the Lord, then we are safe indeed in spite of what kind of weather we encounter. And having a governor ask for a weekend of prayer is monumental, considering the enemy is encouraging people to wipe God out of the face of this nation in so many ways.
Oh beloved, we are so blessed! Even this morning with the crazy windy/not windy weather. We aren’t bound by things because Jesus wasn’t bound by anything. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed – including us! Fear has no hold. Worry has no hold. Sin has no hold. Death has no hold. And we still know that when all is said and done we can call upon the Lord for help in any situation. Drought has no hold either. Whatever God is doing in the earth, to call His people back to Himself, there is within every human being a God sized hole that only God can fill. Prayer is the ultimate humble moment – when we bow our knees before the Only Living God and ask Him to do what only He can do.
God loves you and He’s for you. Whatever you are facing, God is with you. And if you feel abandoned by Him, it’s time to draw closer in faith. Abandon your own ideas of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness so that you can get your own spiritual weather report. As you draw closer, you can ask Him anything and petition Him for all the needs you have. Then you can live in the Light of His will, walking in freedom and favor till the winds of life pass by and His answers to prayer are revealed.
Matthew 8:24-27 And behold, a violent storm developed on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
James 5:16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Psalm 119:133 Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me.
Psalm 119:45-46 And I will walk in freedom, for I have sought Your precepts. I will speak of Your testimonies before kings, and I will not be ashamed.
